So he was safe, tanked a game to get a better draft pick for the team he was expecting to coach, and they fired him. That's cold.
It doesn’t sound like that was a factor based on the press conference. We just got a whole dissertation on Nate Sudfeld. So he was safe, tanked a game to get a better draft pick for the team he was expecting to coach, and they fired him. That's cold.
Looks like Dan Quinn is the leader for the Cowboys d coordinator job. What makes this interesting is this is a coach McCarthy didn't work with before.
The team was ravaged by injuries the last few seasons. Him going 9-7 last season was remarkable all things considered.
Also, he won a Super Bowl with a backup QB who stunk everywhere else.
He has his faults no doubt and his act in the final game was a disgrace but somebody will scoop him up pretty quick.
Who cares if they got lucky in the Super Bowl? Getting across the finish line is all that matters.
Bummer. Was hoping he’d return to Seattle to take over from Norton.Quinn will be looking to rebuild his coaching stock
Wouldn't be first guy to go back to DC job and parlay that success into another HC shot
He could also be guy who ends up being looked at as a good coordinator but not cut out for HC job
He also was the coach who saw Wentz, the team’s best asset, regress and collapse to the point where they had no idea what to do at QB as the season went on and are going to be a mess going forward there. If the lasting impression of you as a coach is you were part of what ruined a young star QB, teams aren’t going to be lining up to hire you.He coached an awful injury plagued team to the division just last year.
Regardless, he will get a HC job very quickly.
Atlanta. Jets. Chargers. Jags.
If Bienemy leaves KC for a HC role could see Pederson land with them and coach Mahomes. What better way to rebuild the image and get another HC job in 1 or 2 years. He also was the coach who saw Wentz, the team’s best asset, regress and collapse to the point where they had no idea what to do at QB as the season went on and are going to be a mess going forward there. If the lasting impression of you as a coach is you were part of what ruined a young star QB, teams aren’t going to be lining up to hire you.
You think the Chargers want any part of putting their young, promising QB in Peterson’s hands after seeing what happened to Wentz?
No kidding. You could say the same for every single one of Brady's Super Bowl's with the exception of the last one. They don't ask how.Who cares if they got lucky in the Super Bowl? Getting across the finish line is all that matters.
If he actually played to win (which he claimed, and we know he didn't) he would still have a job. He deserved to be fired. So he was safe, tanked a game to get a better draft pick for the team he was expecting to coach, and they fired him. That's cold.
Props for using sacked in reference to an American football gaffer. He got sacked because he didn't like that he wasn't able to pick his coaches. Last year he held a press conference and in he stated one of his coaches was coming back, the next day the coach was fired. The owner and gm are making the decisions of who his coaches were. Not how a franchise should be run. Rossman won a power struggle with him.
I'm all for this change, but they need a new gm and that isnt happening right now.
Two of the former Seattle DC hired away. Likely means Norton is sticking around. Sigh...
I think him removing Hurts from the game *hurt* him (nevermind the pun).So he was safe, tanked a game to get a better draft pick for the team he was expecting to coach, and they fired him. That's cold.
