Bill Walsh will always be a better combo coach/GM than Belichick.

Just for the sake of fairness...even Walsh lost his mojo in a second go around.

It's hard to really judge Walsh considering there was no free agency for his first tenure in San Fran

I would argue FA doesn't make that much of a difference.
FA is only useful in filling a final gap or two. NFL teams still need to draft well. FA QBs rarely pan out. Traded for QBs rarely pan out.

He picked the groceries for both sides of the ball, which far better than Belichick could ever do.
