New Jersey- At the start of the season, I thought they would be a playoff team for sure

Philly- They were having a pretty good year until they weren't.

Buffalo- After coming down to the wire last season, I thought this year they'd take the next step and make it. Instead, they regressed.

Minnesota- I expected more.

Dishonorable mention-

SJ- I know you're rebuilding at all, but you couldn't even muster up 50 points??

NJ- Utter disaster of a season relative to expectation
OTT/BUFF- They just continue to flounder and look lost
SEA-Huge step back this year. I think this team is more representative of where they are than last years.

What he said

If I was being generous, I'd say that Seattle maybe overperformed last year, but NJ, Ottawa and Buffalo really shit the bed

Who in the East PO race would Ott/Buf expect to knock out?
Fla, TB, Tor, NYR, Car were pretty much locks to make it. Some thought Bos would fall without Bergeron, but that's a well run and coached team. And still have NYI, NJ, Pitt and Was that were expected to be in the mix, with NJ expected to be the best of that group.

Minnesota finished better than we rightfully should have.

No goalie with a > .900 save %.

Spurgeon missing 66 games and Brodin missing 20, leaving a rookie as the only legit top 3 defenseman on the roster for a lot of nights.

Hamilton or no Hamilton. New Jersey and it's not close.

Pit honorable mention. Bizarre season for them in which they had a significantly better diff than multiple teams they competing with for the final WC spot,

Shocked they weren't better

New Jersey
Pittsburgh

Thought they would show some life;

Ottawa
Buffalo

Minnesota, Seattle, Calgary are in transition years so expectations shouldn't have been that high

Which team was in your opinion the most disappointing this year?

To me it was New Jersey Devils and Calgary Flames.

New Jersey for sure. Most overrated team in the sport. Ottawa Sens are the second most overrated team / disappointment.

For me it would have to be the New Jersey Devils, Ottawa Senators or anyone else that consistently slags Montreal prospects for sport. I love throwing stones at glass houses.

Devils (my cup finalist from the east pick prior the season)
Senators (at least the Melnyk era is officially done)
Sabres (underachieved), need a better coach
