Here's a high level summary:

RE: STH's getting upset: It's a concern as they are the core of the fan base. Most of them he's talked to are ok as they want the energy and excitement in the arena. Others have brought up being treated fairly. Priority right now is fill the building, make it exciting and help the team win. Working on what to do for STH's but don't have an answer yet, but there will be more to come. The most important thing he can do for STH is put a winning team on the ice.

RE: The team: Thinks the team is on the right path. He's not going to over-react to a couple of bad games, but where they are now is disappointing and that level of performance won't be tolerated for long. Wants to see a minimum of 12 points in this 8 home game stretch. Said Aho worked really hard to get back this quickly. Also said "Ain't all of the players that would be back playing this quickly". Said Aho is special.

RE What else the fans can look forward to: Said he has way more ideas than he can implement so is trying to not overdo it as he wants them done right. Mentioned food and beverage service in the lower bowl as vendors go up and down the aisle.

RE Whalers: Said they should be selling Whalers gear online and in the store and should play games in that jersey. Said the look is cool and if they don't do it, it means something went wrong. Joe said the league has to approve it and Dundon said don't worry about that, were tight with the league.

Adam asked about the Whalers logo. Dundon's response: It's a good look, our stores should be selling Whalers stuff, and the Canes should play games in those jerseys. If we don't, it means something went wrong. The league won't be an issue.

Basically, someone is making money off a logo connected with the franchise and it isn’t the franchise and he thinks that’s f***ing idiotic. He’s not wrong. I don’t like the idea of wearing them in game though more than like once in every 5 years. They could go full green on St. Patrick’s day I guess, but this can’t be a regular thing.

I just went to a luncheon with Peters and Dundon as speakers. Dundon said his first goal is to make an amazing experience for the 12,000 in the lower bowl and then worry about the upper bowl. Greensboro's "black hole" was mentioned and Dundon said that he doesn't care if the team is a laughing stock league-wide as long as every single Hurricanes fan in the arena is getting high value for their money.

It's time to get hyped y'all. Peters said he wants to make a run and force Francis to give him the "top-6 Playmaking C" he needs at the Trade Deadline. Interestingly, Peters was asked about missing out on Duchene and he said "I've coached Duchene 3 times internationally and I have a good read on where he needs to be played" (Wing). Dundon was asked directly about Tavares and said he couldn't comment on pending UFAs, but as a general strategy the team was gunning for "Superstars" rather than overpaying "average 30-something UFAs".

Both mentioned multiple times about accountability and the "type" of player they want. The underlying message seemed to be that there are players on the roster who aren't measuring up from a competition standpoint. Dundon expects the team to play very hard tonight.

Another interesting note, Peters unprovoked brought up how poorly the teams who played internationally this year have fared (Vancouver, Ottawa, and LA). How the travel really takes it out of the players and can be disruptive. Seemed like an indication that they had just internally discussed and rejected Finland next year.

This made my day. Hell, my week.

I saw a video once of a baseball game in Japan where female staff were walking around with backpacks filled with beer.

Here's a photo

I wonder if they try some kind of app/other interface to get food delivered to your seat. If he wants the atmosphere to be good, he has to keep butts in seats. Keeping us out of the concourse waiting in food lines would help to avoid stragglers coming back after intermissions. But that would obviously be something for next season at the earliest

This is awesome. I literally just finished buying a Francis whalers jersey on eBay before coming into this thread.

Oh and did you guys seriously not have vendors coming through the lower bowl? Only been to one game at pnc and cant remember but figured you must. In the Canadian arenas I’ve been to they even service the 300’s.

I’ve always thought it was kind of weird that they didn’t, especially since other PNC Arena events do use those vendors. But they’re major sticklers for the “no moving around while puck is in play” rule, so I assume that’s why they didn’t want Cotton Candy Guy wandering around down there.

Regarding the seat service i always though it would be cool if they had an app that i could get on that connected to the vending stations in the arena. i could order everything i want in the app. Put in my section, seat number, and row. Process the payment using apple pay, android pay, stripe, paypal. Once payment is accepted the orders show up on a screen in the concessions and workers fill orders and they have runners bring things to those seats. Alleviates people walking up an down all the stairs constantly, which i personally hate.

EDIT: If anyone who works for canes/PNC reads this hire me and i will build it for you.:naughty:
