Better contract, Mark Scheifele or Alexander Barkov?

Barkov is the better player. Defensively he wins 100-0, offensively its even. Scheifele has by far the better linemates and D.
I`d take Barkov 7 days a week and twice on sundays if I`m building a team from scratches.

Scheifele is better than Barkov, but it’s close. Barkov is younger so perhaps you take him based on age, but since this is contracts you go Scheifele for the extra years.

If the numbers speak for themselves, Barkov is Scheifele's exact equal offensively. Then it's down to what you think of their defense.
Jets fan here, although the length of Scheifele's contract is better by 2 years + still a bit drunk off seeing how dominant Scheifele was in last year's POs. Barkov gets my vote.
Barkov - 78 pts/79 gp 0.99 PPG pace with a 4th place Selke finish @ age 22
Scheifele - 60 pts/60 gp 1.00 PPG @ age 24-25
They'll likely be +/- 5 points of one another in the regular season but Barkov's capable of playing at a Selke caliber level. Scheifele has shown in the playoffs he can get his game to another level whereas Barkov hasn't really had that opportunity yet.
edit - HOWEVER lol Scheifele is locked up throughout his prime until 31, whereas Barkov will need a contract in the while still in his prime years at 27 - which will be what 9-10M (who knows, it's 4 years away). the Idk it's tough lol
