Has a lot of catching up to do. I get the sense that Stevens won't be viewed as fondly in a generation as he was when he played due to the lower numbers in his prime and a lack of hardware, but the guy was one of the greatest defensemen of my lifetime.

In fact, I kind of worry that all he'll be remembered for is the physical element to his game, even though most of us who watched him play know he brought so much more to the table.

I’m referring to southern California, specifically the LA area and suburbs. I think there were a few others that played in the NHL but I forget. I remember the Red Wings drafting a player from Thousand Oaks (where I grew up playing). I’m pretty sure they never signed him.
