Based on the results of the 10 yearly polls, we'll now vote on the best of the entire decade.

You can vote for up to 3 choices, and if you've seen a significant number of them, I encourage you to use all 3 votes.

I've nominated the top 2 vote-getters from each year, so the options are:
  • Parasite (2019)
  • Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019)
  • Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
  • Annihilation (2018)
  • Blade Runner 2049 (2017)
  • Get Out (2017)
  • Arrival (2016)
  • Manchester by the Sea (2016)
  • Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)
  • Sicario (2015)
  • Interstellar (2014)
  • The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014)
  • The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)
  • Her (2013)
  • Django Unchained (2012)
  • Life of Pi (2012)
  • Drive (2011)
  • Moneyball (2011)
  • Inception (2010)
  • The Social Network (2010)

I voted for:
  1. Her
  2. The Social Network
  3. Inception or The Wolf of Wall Street (it's a toss-up for me...)
But there's several that I haven't seen yet:
  • Parasite (2019)
  • Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019)
  • Annihilation (2018)
  • Manchester by the Sea (2016)
  • Life of Pi (2012)
And if we include films that didn't make it this far, my top 5 of the decade would be:
  1. Her
  2. Boyhood
  3. A Separation
  4. Force Majeure
  5. Birdman
HM: The Social Network, and Lady Bird

Her gets my number one spot as it remains my favorite of the decade. My second choice would be Blue is the Warmest Colour, followed by Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, but for the sake of voting I took BR2049 and Parasite, both of which are phenomenal and deserving.

manchester by the sea due to GOAT acting performance
I saw it in the theaters and I think its probably the best movie I've ever seen in theaters but it was so depressing I've never brought myself to watch it again. I also saw it during a rough time in life

Mad Max is my clear favorite out of those. Then Blade Runner as the clear #2. It's crazy to me that in a movie climate full of sequels and reboots with everyone bitching about it, these two movies both did the impossible and not only put forth solid efforts in the franchise that paid homage to the originals while feeling fresh at the same time, but were actually better than their predecessors.

Last one is a bit of a toss-up between Life of Pi, Sicario and Annihilation but I'll go with Life of Pi.

No surprise, none of my favorite films from the decade made the final cut.

Sleeping Sickness
The Place Beyond the Pines

What do you have as your favorites from this decade?
I haven't been watching as many as others have (and I've really fallen off recently), but...

These ones stood out to me:
Loveless
Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives
Amour
Upstream Color
Force Majeure
The Assassin
Once Upon a Time in Anatolia

These ones I enjoyed a lot too
Senna
Mother
The Tale of Princess Kaguya
Tokyo Tribe
After the Storm
Why Don't You Play in Hell?
This is Not a Film
Exit Through the Giftshop

A Separation

The Illusionist
Before Midnight
Four Lions
The Red Turtle
Red Army
Night is Short Walk on Girl

Might be forgetting some others.

From the list, I initially somewhat went along with the praise that Blade Runner 2049, Get Out, Manchester by the Sea, Sicario, Grand Budapest Hotel, and Her got, but in hindsight, I don't think I really care too much about them.

Pretty tough deciding after most of my better films were laid to waste on the roadside, but I'll go metaphorical and pick Parasite, Life of Pi and Django. It's all about the metaphors (and the imagery). ;)

I'm not gonna do a personal ranking because it would change one day to the next but this a copy/paste of what I've rated as the highest in the decade looking back at my own ratings. I haven't seen Uncut Gems or Jojo Rabbit or Little Women yet. If I had to do a top 3 then maybe it'd be Inception, Frances Ha, and Manchester By The Sea.

Didn't get to vote so I thought alternatively I'd rank the poll options for fun and add in some I think the poll ignored, though I'll admit there are many titles (allegedly) worthy of consideration that I haven't seen yet.

First I'll start with titles I don't think should've been in consideration for best of the decade at all: Annihilation, Sicario, Wolf of Wall Street, Drive, Django Unchained, Avengers. (They're all solid movies but I don't think they're quite GOAT of the decade tier)

Blade Runner 2049
Manchester by the Sea
Mad Max Fury Road
The Social Network
Her
Grand Budapest Hotel
Inception
Spiderman Into the Spiderverse
Whiplash

Arrival
Frances Ha
1917
The Master
Dunkirk
The Lobster

Interstellar
The Handmaiden
Moonlight
Inside Out
Inside Llewyn Davis

Get Out
Nightcrawler
Amour
Birdman

Interstellar
Fruitvale Station
Phantom Thread
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
Hereditary
The Tree of Life
Zero Dark Thirty
Guardians of the Galaxy
BlackkKlansman
Knives Out
Winter's Bone
Uncut Gems
Ex Machina
Leviathan
Toy Story 3

Moneyball
12 Years a Slave
Foxcatcher
Lady Bird
Logan
Black Swan

Life of Pi
The Shape of Water
The Revenant
Captain America The Winter Soldier
Hell or High Water
Gravity (I personally find it a fair bit overrated, but I can't deny the technical mastery and score behind what is otherwise a shallow exercise in tense survival in a fantastical setting)
Spotlight
Locke

Under the Skin
Selma

Maybe my tastes aren't quite as patrician as others, but what can you do?
