For me there are guys that shouldn't be in the Hall that Nicholls was a better player than. Clark Gillies for instance has 697 points and was carried most of his career by being on the same line as Trottier and Bossy. I mean if that's the case--WTF--why not Vic Hadfield?
Sure, show us Hadfield's four Stanley Cups.

Essentially Gillies and Hadfield were the same player. Big rugged left wingers who were carried by their linemates but offered some protection when those linemates were targeted by opposition players. They scored at about the same rate per game--0.71 for Hadfield and 0.73 for Gillies regular season. 0.66 for Hadfield--0.57 for Gillies playoffs. I would even venture to say that Gillies played longer as a linemate with Trottier and Bossy than Hadfield with Ratelle and Gilbert and that Trottier and Bossy were somewhat better players than Ratelle and Gilbert.

Simply put Gillies doesn't belong in the Hall of Fame. He couldn't carry a line on his own and was nowhere near a point a game player. If we're looking at a comparable today---he's f***ing Tom Wilson. Looking forward to the day Wilson enters the HOF. Do we put everyone who has 4 or more Stanley Cups in the HOF?---people are bitching about Kevin Lowe this year---he had 6. Esa Tikkanen had at least 5. Charlie Huddy?

Gillies scored 30 or more goals 6 times, versus Hadfield's 3 times. The Isles do not win a cup without him, due to the Bruins and Flyers tough guy acts, which he exposed.
Bigger part of the dynasty than he is given credit for.

697 points as a forward. Really? Bob Gainey at least won a bunch of Selke's. Gillies on a team that wasn't stacked would have been a 45 point a year player.
