If Morin fell to 25th, fine, we'd have a debate on our hands...he's not worth what it would have cost us to move up, especially since we already have Tinordi...;)

Well Morin has much more offensive upside than Tinordi. I'm happy with McCarren DLR and Fucale though.

I heard Horvat was our target on draft day, and that the Habs were livid the Canucks dealt for the pick and took him? At least, that's what the RDS people and Godin were going on about.

Yeah, I heard they tried there too...am actually kinda glad neither worked out, as I'm happy where we're at and what we have...;)

I would not be shocked if Tinordi was the best of these two. We have a tower on defense already so why not a #1 goalie, monster forward and speedy swedish PK specialist .

Btw i'm very high on Tinordi. He will be a special player ....

Would have liked him at 25th though ;)

I would've been pretty happy with Horvat myself, but can't complain with MM.

As with the deal to try and get Morin, the VanCity deal would have cost us alot in assets to move up into the Top 10 (specifically 9th) and I'm glad we didn't lose those assets...;)

Oh, and a side note; when Philly finally realize that they have all these monster Dmen but noone who can carry the puck up the ice, they'll come hunting for a cheap PMD...that's when we slap them with Diaz + Kristo (replacement for Briere) for Morin or Schenn...planning is everything...;)

That is a possibility, Tinordi is going to be a top 4 d-man for the Habs. But Morin certainly does have more upside than him, that's not saying Tinordi isn,t a great prospect though.

Would have loved Morin. I'm happy with the haul that replaced it. Getting Fucale where we did, tipped the scale for me.

Morin would ahve been a sweet addition, but I'm concerned about what the price would ahve been.

I'd love to have Morin too but that would have cost us a bit too much.

What I don't understand is if we wanted Fucale badly enough why didn't we pick him with the 1st 2nd rounder? It's not like De La Rose has ever been an offensive dynamite.

Timmins said he took a calculated risk by seeing who picked between 34th and 36th.

Timmins said it was a calculated risk based on who was picking between our two picks.

Like Timmons said, it was a calculated risk; they felt Buffalo (at #35) had no interest in Fucale but may have had interest in de la Rose, so they grabbed dlR first, knowing that Fucale would still be on the board later...;)

yah u gotta take the positives out of it....fucale will fetch something very very good in a few years time if we decide to stay with price over him.

They obviously think very highly of him... There's two schools of thought regarding DLR. Some scouts feel he's a third liner. Some scouts feel he could end up a Top-6 with untapped offensive potential. Habs must feel that way

The bigger question is,who was the Habs ready to trade.....there still here ...for now

Lots of better players than Morin on the trade market, NHL ready....

If the Habs we"re ready to pay a very high Price for Morin, i would think the players that Habs was ready to deal, are still avail to be traded.
