They can't use compliance buyouts yet, though. I guess they could use a good ol' regular buyout for him though.

There were only certain times when you could even use the good ol' regular buyouts, though... the two weeks before July 1st and then later if you had an arbitration settlement. Both of those windows came and went before the last CBA expired. There probably isn't any reopening at all, even of the old fashioned buyout type, prior to this new season.

(And there needn't be, teams are being allowed to go ahead at the $70.2M cap max that was there at the end of last season, so they ought to have planned their rosters and executed their old-fashioned buyouts last summer based on that).

I hope he won't go overboard with the hyperbole but again, he can't come out and say "Ehhhh, we're ******".

I hope Molson will have some restrain on the hype and respect his fanbase's intelligence. His arena will be full no matter.

Molson will once again state he will spare NO expense to get the Habs back to the top ( buy outs + top spending caps ) and a carte blanche to MB to do any deal on earth. MT to get full power to rule the team as he sees fit.
Habs still need time to fix the sinking ship. not just plug the holes but to rebuild from the hull up. Timmons must get the Habs brand new engines MB needs 6 months to fix the contracts + money problems. MT needs 6 months to fix the on-ice effort every night.

Actually it's been confirmed that agents and GMs can talk but no contracts can be signed yet.

Change in policy as of this morning from league source. GMs are permitted to talk to agents on terms but not sign until ratified.
