When Bergevin came in, I had no idea about him.
His name was floated around a few times but his nomination was not expected.

He did a really good job up to now.
What I really like about him is that the errors he did, he was very fast to correct.

He is also positioning himself in a pretty situation.
All this cap space can be used to get better players.
We are now 16th in Cap space with 3.5M available.
This means that we can trade and get a player that is 3.5M more expensive...

Even moves that seemed a bit odd (Cole for Ryder) turned out well.
About this trade, there may be information that we are not aware about (did Cole ask for a trade after the Lock-out?).

Bergevin is the best GM since Savard (both Serge and Andre).

Based on his deal with Subban from last summer, is it safe to say his style involves large checks? :sarcasm:
PK at 9M plus Max at 4.5M.
We should be OK.

Now Patches will probably get 10-12M the next time. At this time, PK's deal will look good.

DD at 3.5M looks like a good deal to me.
How many players can get 3.5 for 50-60 points (calling the DD deniers now)?

The real question could be: is Eller worthy of 3.5M?
But we will know this year or next year.
I am still wondering if/when he will be able to raise to 50 points with some PP time.

Weise, Malhotra Weaver were also good signing.

According to some, that should make him a solid 2nd line player...

You picked Gionta...

In your fantasy draft?

Must have been a 20 rounder with 20+ people

Completely agree on the fixing mistakes bit. Did he wait for Briere to spend another half year on the 4th line doing nothing? No, he somehow found a team to take the guy for a player who is now a top 6 winger for us, plus a pick

He dumped Cole for a pick and a pending UFA who actually played well for us in that stint.

He didn't re-sign Bouillon

I can't find much fault in a GM who fixes his own mistakes and ends up on top of trades in the process. How many times are Bergevin's "mistakes" going to land us a pick and a better player later on? Those are some pretty awesome mistakes then
