Typical HFboards boxcar stats analysis and inability to decipher the concept of small sample size.
Pouliot has been dragged down by Draisaitl (who isn't ready at this level). Further, he hasn't received too much TOI because of his said sheltering role.
He'll be fine when he starts getting some NHL linemates.
He just will.
Typical _____ post that doesn't bother watching games or knowing enough about numbers to be shouting down from his soap box to be taken seriously.
Last season:
80gp. 15-21-36 +10 56pim. 141sog. 141 hits 13:26/toi game
This season:
7gp. 0-2-2 -3 6pim. 10pim. 6 hits 13:59/toi game
So uhhh he's not getting "too much" toi? What are you expecting? For him to play more than Hall? He's playing more than he did for the Rags last year, he's getting PP time, I see no reason at all why someone would think that he isn't getting enough time based on his play.
I guess this is what an advanced stats warrior looks like, hopefully the next one that we sign will be even pricier and every bit as much of a non factor to us non analytics idiots.
Did Pouliot ever have a reputation of a physical player? I thought he was drafted as a skilled power forward --in a Penner/Ryan/JVR mode--a big body who could protect the puck and put up some points.
He obviously did not develop his offence, but became an effective 3rd line player who could play against top competition and occasionally chip in with some goals.
I have not seen many games this year, but i think people have been setting their expectations a bit too high for Pouliot--he's a 30 point a season player. He's had 2 points in 7 games--so he's not to far behind his normal production level. One or two good games and he will be right there.
141 hits last year, less than a hit/game this season. I expected more physicality than what he has shown.
