Are people really getting upset over giving Harpur a tiny contract?

If so, you need to evaluate your decisions.

He's been better than advertised and the Rangers are going to need cheap depth guys near league minimum or ELC with the cap crunch for next year.

Plus after years of going heavy on defensemen in the draft ,the Rangers don't have any guaranteed defensive prospects close to ready.

There's a contract limit. Have we not seen many times teams preferring to trade a contract for a player, if he clears waivers, rather than just claiming him? Guys like Harpur are waived almost daily. It's really no big deal not to have one in the organization. You can get one easily almost anytime. It's a waste of a contract for a guy who is not an asset to the team.

Plus it is always nice to have the option in some games of dressing 7 D when you play teams like the Isles and Caps and Harpur will fight when he has to . I like the signing .

Should never, in any circumstances dress 7 D. Will never understand it

Well i agree, always have mixed feelings about rentals
and they could try Robertson if they want Jones to continue working on stuff for a few more weeks
