Very excited. He has looked very good. Very tall, can easily fill out and be a good guy for us in the future.

Scouting reports say better skater than Musil, plus has a slight offensive touch. Big shutdown defender. Hes progressed since draft day very well. Maybe try him at RHD in OKC soon?

I think he has good potential, maybe a solid bottom pairing guy or Fistric upside (maybe more)

Bit unfair there. A lot of our OKC guys are progressing very well - see Lander, Klefbom, Marincin, Arcobello, heck even Miller looked very solid last night

Not sure the faint glimmer is accurate either. It'll be a long road for Musil but OKC's new coach - whose name escapes me - has said he's the most improved blue liner on the team

Betker has always reminded me of Marc Methot who im pretty sure was also drafted in the 6th round. hopefully he keeps progressing.

Offense dried up, defense has declined somehow. Not surprised if hes dealt for a 7th this offseason, or heads to Europe

At 6’5 and 200 pounds, Ben Betker is a big presence on the blue line for the Everett Silvertips of the WHL. A late selection in the sixth round of the 2013 NHL Draft, Betker is at the bottom of a deep pool of defensive prospects in the Oilers’ system. His skating and puck movement have markedly improved, and Betker seems more keen to use his size to muscle his opponents off the puck and throw some big hits. While not naturally offensively gifted (his best season of his career was 21 points in 68 games in 2013-14), Betker has been focusing on shooting the puck more frequently and jumping up into the rush when he can. He currently has one goal and five assists through 19 games with the Silvertips.

He went on a tear when the calendar turned when he was given powerplay time which is really nice to see!
