  • Steve Asmussen, second in trainer wins in 2018 in North America, had at least six wins covering three tracks.

Belmont (New York):
  • Dylan Davis was having an awesome day before the card was terminated following the fourth race. He ended the day 4 3-0-1. Rains made the track conditions unsafe.
Canterbury (Minnesota):
  • Meet opener: Today began the meet.
  • McLean Robertson, who was a bit disappointing record-wise at Oaklawn but is an exceptional trainer especially at his home track, won with his first starter. He then won, with multiple starters, in his only other race. Two wins in two races. He will have a few victories more before the meet ends.
Arlington (Illinois):
  • Meet opener: Today began the meet.
Churchill Downs (Kentucky):
  • Race 11: Serengeti Empress (Jose Ortiz/Thomas Amoss) removed any doubts about her condition with a victory in the 145th running of the $1.25 million Kentucky Oaks. She was vanned off as the favorite in her prior race. The $1 super returned over $67,000. The $1 trifecta paid more than $7,000.

  • Race 9: Cummings (Flavien Prat/James DiVito), who had trained exceptionally, won at 22-to-1 and topped a $2 tri that paid over $11,000. The $2 super was more than $91,000.
  • Stars: World of Trouble, McKinzie and She's a Julie were among the stars to have won.
  • Card: Twelve of the 13 races had purses of $100,000 or more.
  • Attendance: 105,719 which was about 8,000 less than last year. Weather could have been an issue.
  • Handle: $60.2 million which set a record for the day. Over $19.3 million was bet on the Oaks race which also established a record mark.
Oaklawn (Arkansas):
  • Race 9: Exulting (Richard Eramia/Michael Maker) won the $250,000 feature race. The rider hails from Uruguay.
  • Rider standings: Ricardo Santana, Jr. was at Churchill Downs today and will be there tomorrow providing David Cohen with an ideal opportunity to take home the rider's crown. Cohen has as many as 11 mounts tomorrow. He won his first two starts today to close with one one of leader Santana.
  • Steve Asmussen added three more wins to his meet lead as trainer.

Edzo went from using Code of Honor in exotics to make some money to using him to win.

Are they starting this thing later and later? In a few years they won't actually run the race until after 7 Eastern.

Oh great, another sloppy Kentucky Derby.

When was the last time it didn’t rain at the derby or Preakness? It feels like 3-4 years in a row for both now

I wonder if there is a prop bet on which horse refuses to go into the door on the first try. This is all about sports betting, might as well make it like the super bowl.

I hope the horses make it out of the gate ok. I always worry one of the horses will fall. It happened yesterday, apparently.

I liked that 20 or 21 to get up and get a piece, they were underbet by a fair margin

Not seeing enough here to make a change especially if the objection is from the 20 and not the 1

Just imagine being in a casino waiting with baited breath what the decision is. I wouldn't want to be the gambling houses tonight, especially if people feel like the wrong horse won.

I’m glad i only have a 10$ office bet on it but I lose out on 190 if he’s DQ’d
