Provarov makes 2015 the easier choice. But I really believe in Keller. So I went with 2016.

I think Keller and Barzal are in the same range. I think Provorov, Werenski and McAvoy are in the same range. Think Sergachev is probably a small step below. I think its 2015. Its close, but its clear.

Of course, a year from now that could all change and this thread could look silly.

Provorov

Werenski

Keller
McAvoy

Barzal

2015 easy

It is difficult to compare forwards to defenseman but, based on what I have seen I'd rank them like:

Provorov
Werenski/Keller

McAvoy
Sergachev
Barzal

The bottom 3 are all very close.

Still 2015.

I think you're giving Keller wayyyy too much credit to be putting him with Werenski based on such a small sample size... I say that even with Keller being my favorite prospect in the last 5 years. and you have Barzal too low

Clayton Keller is 19 years old and almost PPG on quite literally the worst team in the history of the NHL. But yeah, Provorov or whoever is better.

Provorov is easily better, not even a debate. Shayne Gostisbehere is over a PPG as a defenseman, I guess hes better than Provorov and Keller too?

Keller has played 20 games, Provorov was a #1d at 19 years old and is arguably a top 15 defenseman in the league at 20 years old. pump the brakes.

I mean, you have to be projecting here when comparing 2016 to 2015. 2016 class has a very small sample size. I don't think there is a great argument for saying that McAvoy > Provorov right now.

But, 18 games into his career McAvoy is doing the same thing Provorov did last year and securing himself as his teams #1D at 19 years old.

Both project to be 50+ point physical 2 way #1D. I don't think you can really say anything beyond Provorov == McAvoy at this point in their careers without talking out of your ass.

Yes Provorov was a #1d last year

Yes Provorov is very debatable as top 15 this year. He's 5th in E'S points, elite defensively And plays a lot of very tough minutes.

Yeah, because it’s definitely the same to use points to evaluate a forward as it is to use points to evaluate a defenseman.

Provorov is not a #1D.

Barzal has 23 points in his last 18 games and is averaging only about 16:30 a game this year. He looks fantastic out there, I think he has been a bit undervalued thus far in this thread.
