Good thing you didn't look up stats or anything cosidering his 10 seasons of nhl playoffs came when most times Nashville was a 7/8 seed always taking on the mighty Detroit redwings, but yea lets act like its Barry's fault

You mean like the 8 seed Preds that are going to the finals this year? Seems Lavi was able to do something that Trotz couldnt. Now he's going to the SCF with yet another team.

There is a reason why some coaches fail year after year. BB was the same way, a good coach that could get a lot out of a team through the regular season, but seems to be outmatched over and over again when its time to out coach another in a 7 game series. He early retirement yet again this year continues his failures.

Trotz seems to be in the same boat now.

This team is fragile when it gets to the playoffs, regardless of what players seem to be on the bench. Maybe its time to get someone that has actually been there behind the bench. We've tried everything else over 40+ years, maybe there really is something to a coach and his winning record and mentality.

We cant do any worse...can we?

Trotz slow and steady wins the race

It is mind boggling we hired the guy that couldn't get out of the 2nd round to fix the team that cannot get out of the 2nd round. And then continue to retain him.

I thought he had a short leash after 2016, and thought he would be gone by Christmas. Maybe I was a year early.

Or, maybe we are eyeballing a new coach that is still active. Is it near unprecedented for a coach to be fired after surviving this long in the choke season?

Trotz' fate is all but sealed after last night. You lose to the eventual Cup champions 2 years in a row there's NO way in hell you keep your job.

Conventional thinking dictates the opposite. The "lost to the eventual champs" excuse is pretty common in sports and I think the Caps have used it before (three times now for the Penguins in the Ovie era).

For a team doesn't like to make changes and looks for reasons to pump its own "woulda coulda shoulda" tires, losing to the champs is the ideal scenario for standing pat.
