He played today because the leafs are still in a playoff race and are clearly fine with keeping him unless the right deal came along. He was a very good player under Keefe and the team is going to hurt without him

Because he isn’t good and will cost us in the playoffs.

It just seems like Dubas isn’t confident with his decision making. You are either interested in selling him, or you’re not... make a decision and move on... the rumours this week make it sound like the Leafs wanted to move him.

The rumor was teams are calling not dubas trying to trade him. We would need the perfect deal in order to trade him. It was so unlikely to happen. Our defence tonight would have had sandin, lilly and marincin all in the line up, that's horrific.

Rumours are rumours. If he liked an offer he would move him, if not there is no reason to. No different than any gm.

Dubas let him play because

a) we need him in the lineup with all our injuries
b) our powerplay is way better with him than without him
c) he likely isn't shopping him, even if he's listened on calls
d) we're fighting for a playoff spot

Hope Barrie is ok.

Perhaps this is divine intervention by the hockey gods ensuring that Barrie is in a Leaf uniform until the season is over. Maybe he is to score a meaningful winning goal in the playoffs or to get us into the playoffs.

How is it dumb? They aren't trying to trade him. They are trying to win hockey games. Him not playing would be highly dumb, especially if they aren't trying to trade him.

This is so much different than teams that are actually selling. If you can't see that, then you really have to take a step back and evaluate.
