The Bain group has raised its offer to 4 billion according to TSN.
Just an fyi, as I dont think it will ever amount to anything.

What is the dollar figure you think it would take to get the deal done......as everything has its price.......
and the NHL would have the same credability as the WWE, Slam Ball and Roller Derby.Pepper said:EDIT: personally I'd love to see this happening, that would teach the PA a good lesson.

Pepper said:I think this is Bettman's idea to put pressure on PA.
If that group gets all the teams, they can take PA's december 9th offer and introduce a self-imposed $20M salary cap for every team in the league, the CEO of the corporation will tell all GMs that your budget for salaries is $20M and that's it, PA can't do anything about it.
That would mean a $600M pay-roll, meaning the company would make huge profits once they get to raise the revenues back to pre-lockout levels. For example, if we assume that their total costs would be $1B, they would make hundreds of millions of profit every year meaning they could cover the investment costs in ~10 years or so.
EDIT: personally I'd love to see this happening, that would teach the PA a good lesson.

I'd hate to see an outside company come in buy all the teams.

Even if a CBA is signed, their will still be a flock of Euro's heading back home or staying there in the case of Ovechkin, as a Super League is gaining a foot hold over seas. The lower the NHL salaries get, the closer the NHL comes to becoming just another Pro Hockey League. The only thing that makes the NHL today an elite league is the big salaries that lure the players to North America. I would suggest the European fan hopes your wish comes true.

one more reason to fire Bettman .... in order to not only "win" (which was already accomplished with the PA's first offer in Sep), but in order to demolish the PA, he had to bring the league so far down the ladder, its equal to roller derby now.The Iconoclast said:After this lockout is complete they will likely already be there without selling off the league.

its like he dropped a nuclear warhead on his land. well, i used the term right from the start, Bettmans "scorched earth" tactic might him the war, but the game will forever be harmed because of it.

at what cost ?Thunderstruck said:The PA will be brought to heel and taught a harsh lesson. For that Bettman deserves a great deal of credit.
1) Bettman is driving the semi and is responsible for driving it with no breaks. The Iconoclast said:... while the semi with no brakes came bearing down on them...

2) Who cares about what mistakes the PA made, its their own money they sent down the drain. The point I was making is that GB is the one responsible for the health of the league, and his chosen tactics in the CBA battle has resulted in the NHL just about being wiped off the professional sports radar.
