Should chance the title. Baertschi wasn't waived he was sent down. Doesn't require waivers again since his recall was less than 30 days.

Must be tremendously disappointing for Baertschi...Looks like he's falling through the cracks a bit..If he's not producing offensively ,he isn't that useful.

Will be interesting to see if Goldys progressed...Too good for the AHL,not good enough for the NHL.

When Ferland,Sutter and Rooster get healthy...Mr Eriksson could be the next odd man out.

question: what if we just buy out Eriksson? Not to save up much money, but to make an example out of him? Would that be a good idea?

That's probably the only good Walker tweet he's put out... ever. Pretty funny.

The right move. Sven looks like he might be done as a NHL'er after the head injuries.

Why not reunite Goldy and EP since they had chemistry last year? Free up Miller or Boeser to play with Bo or Gaudette.

Something needs to be done to wake up this team's 5v5 offense.

Would guess this is a showcase for Goldy as a team is probably interested. So hopefully that means he gets top-6 minutes.

Would like to see him get a legit shot on the wing with EP and Boeser. Seems like every time he's started in the top-6 he only plays a few shifts before he gets benched the moment he makes a mistake. Give him a chance to get adjusted and see what he can actually do. What's the worst that could happen? It's not like EP and Boeser have been lighting it up 5 on 5 lately. If he still fails to provide anything, then see if you can trade him. Maybe there's another similar struggling prospect out there that could also use a change of scenery.

Here's hoping Goldy gets a real chance with solid minutes and opportunity in top 6 for an extended period this time. Talent is there and he has to know this is his last chance here. Let's see what you got Goldy and Green just play him.

Yeah..I believe after his bonus is paid next season...He's owed $4M total..Hopefully, he'll retire.
No chance the NHL would let him keep his bonus and then retire. He won't be able to keep that $3 million bonus without playing. Precedent setting if the NHL allowed it.

Either he walks away from the remaining $8 million and thus the Canucks don't take any further cap hits or:
He keeps the SB and the Canucks have to assign him somewhere and take a cap hit.

Would be a grievance filed if he walks away anytime after getting his SB. NHL would tell the Canucks to recover a prorated portion of the SB.

If he does not retire, will it be wise for us to buy him out and make an example out of him by that time?

I kinda doubt he has enough shame to bow out with what little dignity he has left.

They can buy him out in June if they want. Keeping in mind, they need to eat the $3 million SB he gets in July, along with the other $1 million in SB he gets in July 2021, along with the extra $4 million salary over cap hit he has been paid through the first 4 years of his contract. So, next year he will count for a big number, much like Corey Perry counts for a big number for the Ducks next season at around $6 million when he had a regular cap hit of $8.6 million.

Loui's cap hit would be $5.66 for what would be his season 5, and $3.66 million for what would be his season 6. Then the extra 2 years would be $667K. Total cap hit would be $10.67 million. Basically, each year takes into account his SB for that year. Plus they split the extra $4 million evenly and charge the $667K of the salary buyout. Thus, $3 SB + $2 salary over Cap hit, plus salary buyout to arrive at $5.66 mill next season.

Or the Canucks can bury him in the AHL and have him count $5 million next season, and another $5 million in what would be his season 6. Basically, is the net savings of $667K against the cap combined for years 5&6 really worth buying him out vs just sending him to the A?

Great post. Really depends on Aquaman's pocket book.

Oh yeah a TERRIFIC idea, it literally screams "hey if you sign here and you don't work out we will do our utmost to screw you over". That should get all the good available free agents chomping at the bit to sign in this sports backwater...

R...ight, because being accountable is such a pointless and alien concept, and Eriksson is the first FA in human history who was bought out because he sucked balls.
