Babcock complained about having to play his best players too much in a game he did this:

Rielly 24:37
Muzzin 22:00

Tavares 19:28
Marner 19:13
Matthews 18:19

seriously.

in a league where other teams are playing forwards 25+ mpg and dmen 30+ mpg when they need to, Babcock is actually complaining that he's being forced to play dmen not even 25mpg and forwards not even 20mpg.

it doesn't even make sense.

the man has lost it.

Especially when down in a game trying to generate something...... AND on a terrible losing streak
He says players don't get tired.....so why then?

Leafs Home Board
Guys, don't you think some of the problem with our defence right now is its composition? We literally have 3 AHL calibre Dmen filling out our top 6. I'm not saying some of this isn't on Babcock, it is, but you can't get blood from a stone...

You're not wrong, but I suggest Leafs are going to need to find a way to win, despite this glaring problem because its only going to worse after this year.

Next season Leafs will have 4 forwards taking up nearly 1/2 the teams cap, and Gardiner and Hainsey will likely depart as UFAs and not only will Oz and Holl become regulars, but Marlies such as Rosen and Borgman etc might join them as Leafs try and fill out an NHL roster using 1/2 the cap limit on 18+ players not named Auston, Johnny, Mitch or William.

Muzzin looked a lot better paired with an offensive D than Zait who handles the puck like a grenade.

I just want the f***ing media to finally nut up and ask him some hard questions one of these days.

Surely he realized how bad he looked by making that comment.

he is, so will they be able to afford him? Use him as "own rental?" He'll be another quality player they won't be able to resign due to cap issues, just like Gard's this year. Lots of talent walking out of Toronto for nothing these last few years, our system must be incredibly deep? :sarcasm:
Worry about that next year.

But seriously even asides from that, a team with Matthews-JT-Kadri down the middle with Nylander-Marner on the wings, and Rielly-Muzzin in the blue line should be able to compensate for that lost depth

And that’s not even mentioning some other solid names.

Babcock should be really publically holding himself accountable. If he’s unwilling to do that even privately, he needs to go
do you think it's mostly on the coach? If he's the problem why hasn't a change been made, what is the GM waiting for? Clocks ticking............

Dubas ain't gonna play that hand yet man.

If he fires Babcock and shit goes completely south, he will quickly find himself on the hot seat. Nonis did the same thing with Carlyle, he milked that shit for as long as possible.

I'd say nowhere near as bad as the GM looks spewing on about how the Leafs D is highly under rated, and that was before acquiring Muzzin!
