The other coaches couldn't realize this? lol

There have been allusions to Gardiner's lack of self-awareness in the past:

When Randy Carlyle was asked about some of the more lively exchanges he had with players during Monday’s exit meetings, he cracked a smile.

“One example,” he said. “A young defenceman, playing a rover style of hockey at the start versus more conservative at the end of year, felt the leash afforded him early in the season was not as long as the one at the end. The coach said ‘if you’d have played longer (in the NHL), you would’ve had a longer leash’. It was a chicken-and-egg thing.

“It was kind of a surprise who he compared himself with in the league. That was shocking”.

Perhaps Babcock just had a better way of helping Jake understand both what he was doing and what he should do instead

I have heard it mentioned before by some media guys that perhaps Babcock's best attribute is his ability to communicate messages to the players.

Gards terrible positioning isnt due to lack of coaching. I can guarantee that.

Defensive positioning is fairly simple.

This team is terrible. It is going to take a few years to get rid of the bad players, and bring in new ones. Some of the players will learn from Babcock and be kept, some won't. It will take half a year, for Babcock to make a real change in those who have that potential... some shorter, some longer. That won't make this a winning team anyway, drafting, trades and development. It's going to take time, and patience.

We need more from many of the players... both in terms of making them tradeable, (Bozak for example), or to be part of the future (Kadri for example). It's only preseason, and hopefully by the time the regular season starts, some of these guys play some passable hockey.

Winners lose, but learn. Losers lose and learn nothing. Things will change.

Babs is going to lean on these dummies to no end and if they somehow improve under him it will be the time they move them out as quick as they can. Thats scenario #1.

Lou Lam is another story altogether. He doesn't want or mess around with unwillingness to play a team game properly. Thats where the leash might be very short before they are skidded out of town. The repulsiveness was front and center again last night.

The tear down was and is far from finished just by moving kessel. I hope that Lou has seen enough. I would not hang a safe tag on any player except for the very youngest core.

Gardiner is a train wreck when it comes to poise. When he has room he is good but a little pressure causes mistakes. I don't think poise can be taught to him. Nylander is the best player on the team and all ya ever hear is he needs development. What do the rest need then!

Time to start talking about getting trades somehow and not discussing how you can fix stupid.

Well with that contract, the players will be cleared out long before him. He'll have every chance at succeeding.

LOL listened to TSN story and Babcock challenging his veterans.

Yikes, he looks clearly frustrated already hahahahana

Most of the predecessor coaches always stuck by the veterans even when they played like ****, they'd still play them over the rookies. That mentality has to change. If someone is playing like they don't belong in the NHL...then they don't belong in the NHL. Simple as that, even if they are veterans.

Let them think about life in the pressbox and give the ice time to the players that want it.

Right now is the perfect time to set the expectations instead of being behind the eight ball and 10 games under .500 and having jersey's thrown on the ice.
