Matthews might hate Babs. He's still signing an 8 year extension. Sorry Leaf-haters.
Did the Leafs lose their first round pick yet for Lupul's tweet?

Never mind what Lupul said, I remember some people thought the Leafs would be fined and lose draft picks because Jared Cowen said he had surgery and didn't tell the Leafs, so they couldn't buy him out. The NHL had an impartial 3rd party look into it and said the Leafs did nothing wrong.

I have inside sources on the situation and they're all telling me it doesn't look great. Tensions are so high that Matthews just might request an 8 year deal just to stay in TO and keep pissing off Babs. Some may say that's a vindictive move, I'll say it's passionate.

A very long winded post. So I will just ask 2 questions.

1. Did or did not Matthews lead Leafs fwds in average ice time in the regular season and playoffs or not?

Yes, but who cares? Only you and you despise the Leafs so no one should (and no one does) give a shit what you think you the Leafs should do. A player can have the highest ice time on a team and still be getting too little ice time and be deployed very poorly. Matthews was 70th among forwards for ice-time per game. Matthews' life is not for you to decide. If (and again you have no idea if it is the case - you have decided it is true because - and only because - it suits your agenda) Matthews doesn't like his ice-time, or how he is deployed, or who he plays with - that is for him to decide. It doesn't matter what you think.

2. Why is Matthews lobbying

There is no evidence that Matthews is lobbying for anything. Quit making things up.

to change the #2 PP in the NHL in back to back years,

This is arguable. Matthews/Nylander had a PP GF/60 of 9.43 in 2016-2017 while Marner/JVR had a PP GF/60 of 9.34. And Marner/JVR also allowed a lot of SH goals against.

And regardless, the Matthews/Nylander PP unit could not score this year and that was a big change from the year before. If Matthews complained about his PP - which again you have no evidence that he did - you have no idea what he complained about, if anything. When there is a unit that can't score there are lots of things they could have complained about - the lack of changes coming from the coaching staff for a unit that had gone stale. Player changes - Komarov should never be on a PP unit. Brown really shouldn't be either. When Johnsson was put in the unit scored 3 goals in under 8 minutes.

Isn't this selfish thinking on his part?

The thinking that you have imagined up because it suits your agenda?

Great post. He twists words to make it seem like there is any sort of credibility to his claims or he even said “Matthews is lobbying” Hahahahahahahaha my gosh.

More spin. As expected. Yeah Toews and Kane play(ed) together ALOT in your words, despite being shown this was not the case by the the own site you cited, and a Hawks fan I would bet watched more Hawks games in their 3 cups than you have.

I will leave you with 2 more facts. Ignore them, spin them anyway you want.

Matthews led the Leafs in average ice time in regular season and the playoffs.
Leafs had the best aggregate PP in the NHL the last 2 years running. And we hear he was not happy with how Babcock was using him through multiple sources for people that want to find them(they are in this thread). Don't let the facts hit you while you ignore to address this post.

Didn't all this stem from Kyprios interpreting Matthews body language?

And then other media further speculating about those speculations because Babs met with Matthews (and Andersen)...

I get when garbage is conjured up by dopey media to try and sell clicks, but that some of you have actually bought-in on this is pretty sad.

...Nick Kyprios, lol.

Everyone from Sportsnet with the exception of Elliotte Friedman are horrible when it comes to rumors and Kypreos is their leader, which is why TSN has proven to be much better in all aspects.

Remember when Kypreos said the Leafs now regret choosing Marner when he was going through a goal scoring drought and said they should have picked Noah Hanifin instead.

I think Kypreos took a few too many shots to the head.

Edit: Ugh, that wasn't even intentional. Forgot about that.

Babcock played Matthews, Marner and Nylander 17.5, 16 and 17 minutes in the playoffs.

Boston's big 3: 19, 20.5, 20.5
Stamkos Kucherov Point: 18, 19, 18
Kuz, Ovie, Backs: 21, 20.5, 21
Malkin, Kessel, Crosby: 19, 18, 20
Hall, Palmieri, Hischer: 21, 18, 16.5
Forsberg, Arvidsson, Johanssen: 18, 19, 18
Wheeler, Scheifle, Laine: 20, 21, 18
Koivu, Granlund, Staal: 18, 18.5, 18.5
Smith, Karlsson, Marchy: 20, 22, 19
Couture, Pavelski, Hertl: 20, 21, 20

Is the Leafs trio 10%+ worse than the other trios or maybe Babcock just has extremely poor usage of his players, see grinding old man Hainsey into the dust on our PK on the season and yet refusing to give big minutes to our best guys in the playoffs.
The right numbers for Marner and Nylander are 17:03 and 15:43.

Matthews was on the ice (I can't say played) for 17:32, as you wrote.
