AVs should just OS and keep Byram for Sergachev. Picks will be late round choices anyway.
Its a no-brainer. But i don't think Sakic has the balls to do it. Didn't he win the Lady Byng or was in the running ever year he played?

Really? You are turning down that offer?
That solves everything and gives you a blue-chip dman to replace Serge down the road. You get to sign Cirelli and Cernak wth just enough capspace.
You are looking at this from the wrong point of view. Tampa is not a rebuilding team that needs mediocre/cheap players. Tampa is in a win now mode. The goal is to win the next Cup in the next season, not 5 years from now. Bolts need to sign Cirelli, Sergachev and Cernak. All of them. They are not going to trade any of them if they can move Johnson. The trade offer defeats its purpose.

And let's assume you can't trade TJ. He already cleared waivers. Now what? What happens if an offersheet is thrown on Cernak / Serge? This offer triages the situation.

Tampa players have a tradition to take less money instead of signing offer sheets. A player that would sign an offer sheet among Bolts is a player who wants out. If a player wants out you have to let him go. There is zero sense in matching an offer sheet in that case.

Given the uncertainty of these times, players may opt for cost-certainty than remain a TBL. They got their cup. Now they can get paid.

I'd do it as a TBL fan. We have McDonagh and Hedman who can handle the heavy minutes while Byram develops

You are aware that, with a 20 man roster and needing a forward and two D, the Avs are down to 7.4 million in cap space, right?

The Avs have far less space than people seem to imagine.

Enough money to offer Sergachev $6M and sign Jost for the remainder. Graves is gone.
