Josh Dickinson

Is the brother of Jason Dickinson who was a 1st rounder for the Dallas Stars. Avs obviously liked something they saw considering he just finished his freshman season at Clarkson University. E: Actually posted some pretty solid numbers, more surprised that Josh left as a freshman since these guys want to leave as soonest as a Junior.

No frickin idea, not many undrafted freshmen leave school after their first year or are fortunate enough to get an ELC on top of that. Its probably a signing to increase the Eagle's squad depth next year where the scouts saw something they liked.

4th liner or top 9 skill?

He has some skill to his game. How much is always a question. Contrary to what you'd think by his numbers, he is more of a playmaker than a goal scorer. A number of his goals were in close rebounds on the PP, so don't take that total or shot percentage as a true gauge of what his shot is like (it is pretty solid, but not amazing either). He was used as Clarkson's 2nd line center and was tasked as the matchup guy after he got his feet wet. This is a solid add to the prospect pool.

Joe's using Josh to lure Jason... :naughty:

Stylistically who would you compare him to? Y'all love giving comparisons, right?

No idea who this is, but it sounds like Joe is continuing to try to add center depth to the team somehow. Henchy do you think this is more of a minor league addition for the time being or will he Kerfoot his way on to the team next fall?

So what are we looking at, free 5th-7th long shot prospect of closer to a 4th that we might see something out of eventually?

Minor league for sure.

Brassard comes to mind. A good 2 way center that doesn't have any real major flaws and can contribute everywhere. I'm not saying Dickinson will have that upside, but he plays that sort of game.

He should be a minor league guy... probably competing for a middle 6 role there next year with Beaudin, Nantel, and maybe Girard.

That's still a pretty shaky C lineup for the Eagles next year, even if Toninato starts there next year.

Can't complain, a free prospect is a free prospect, and having no obvious flaws is always a good thing.

Optimistically he's a better option than Toni as the 4C someday because of his offensive upside yeah?

The Eagles will likely be a pretty shakey team in general. Kamenev will likely be in the NHL deservedly or not (FTR I think he will deserve it). Totinos will be a 2nd/3rd line sort there. Beaudin/Dickinson will probably fight over the 3rd. Leaving the #1C to probably be a vet. I'd like to see the Avs make a run at Peca from Tampa to bring him in (though he might make the NHL club instead if he was brought in). Broadhurst would be another name I'd target.

Wait, what...?

A guy who scores on rebounds?

But this goes against my agenda of the Aves never doing stuff like this!

Seems like a very good find. I haven't seen him play but stat-wise and from what Hench said he seems like another Bowers-type player.
