That would give Bleed even more material for his Boucher memes lol. It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, he'd probably want some chief assistant job though.

''Come on Lou give me call. I sit waiting for phone call for new job offer. I part of Jacques's buddy system too just like Dave Barr and Matt Shaw. Give me power to run power play and I give you real power play. I also help out with 1-3-1 at even strength if and when necessary''

Shaw gone? Sounds good to me. Obviously the biggest PP issue is personnel but I dont think he was helping the cause either

I personally would like this guy.

This guy was the best PP coach we've had since Slava. Think we were 11th that year.

Knowing Lou though we're probably gonna get this guy.

JUST KIDDING! I think.

Personally I think we wind up getting some Oates disciple, whether it's a guy he used to work with in TB/currently works with in Washington/played with him, we probably wind up going back to that PP.

I'm excited to see who gets chased out next seeing as how the PP will most likely still suck with the team we will be icing.

Oates was much better than Shaw. The problem with Oates was all the shorthanded goals every other game earlier in 11-12. Even in the dying days of Maclean's tenure we were on like a 7 game PP goal streak, and it was usually the only goals we were scoring. We finished 14th last season under Oates which was only the second time finished in the top 15 since 01-02. Tremblay in 09-10 was the other time. Though Oates did annoy me in the playoffs last year especially the last two rounds when our PP died. Mostly was due to Kovy being unserviceable though.

This is what I said sometime in March when our PP was sucking badly. If the PP is still gonna suck then just don't hire a PP specialist coach. Save the money (Shaw probably made peanuts) and just let Deboer, Stevens, and Barr concoct something. If it's gonna be bad anyway you might as well? That way we don't have to blame Shaw or Oates anymore.

Shaw wasn't completely at fault, and I was willing to give him another year with 82 games, and a healthy lineup. Though he gets too much credit for San Jose. They've had a top 10 PP since 06-07, and continue to this year without Shaw. San Jose has a much better lineup than us. If Shaw wasn't the one telling them to play musical chairs like that then I can't put the blame on him. Whoever was though should get the blame.

I don't really care since Shaw was "meh" but I do know that Bleedred is probably streaking somewhere !!!

The best possible candidate we can sign IMO is Guy Boucher. The guy is a PP specialist and was invited by Pat Quinn to coach the PP for the WJC Canadian team when Tavares and Subban were on it and it was freaking electric. Granted, that team was stacked with talent but the system he used was rock solid.

Granted, the personnel would stay the same but with a great mind working his magic, he might actually move Kovy to the left hand boards (were Stamkos is getting about 75% of his PP goals) and that right there would be a added plus.

I'd love for Kovy to be off the point, but I really think this is a Deboer ''Overruling''. Not to say Shaw or Oates challenged it, but it's something I think Deboer forces. Though Kovy has been on the point his entire time here, and he was from what I remember in Atlanta. His shot isn't quite as powerful from the point. It's great on 5 on 3's, and occasionally other times. He'd be of more use on the boards.

I wouldn't mind Boucher or Paul Maurice. Boucher isn't getting any head coaching job offers in the NHL anytime soon, but as an assistant he may be in demand. Maurice probably could get a head spot somewhere. He's in the KHL now but might have an out clause for the NHL? Even if our PP still sucked I would love Paul Maurice. He could really bring back some of that veteran leadership, and mind that we lost with Oates and Robinson last year.

If they hire Boucher then Pete will probably be looking over his shoulder, if we stink up the joint during the first month, since his replacement would probably be standing right there. I'm down for him though but my expectations for us to ever have a halfway decent powerplay are at an all time low right now so they'll have to surprise me.

I don't think it's so much DeBoer forcing Kovy on the point as it is a tacit understanding in the organization that Kovy wants to play the point (with the entire two minutes of the PP) and you want to keep Kovy happy, unlike Johnny Mac scratching him. Lemaire and MacLean played him on the point endlessly too. He ain't getting off it anytime soon. Especially since if he does he ain't going to be stationed on the left side, unfortunately.

That's probably beyond any assistant coach's pay grade. Just like Marty's workload was beyond any head coach's pay grade way back when. With our left/right philosophy he'd be taken off the point to play in the right circle anyway. I'd rather him be at the point than on the right boards lol

The PP wasn't Shaw's fault but he just made a bad situation worse with the endless circling system.

I'm not sure if Kovy wants to be on the point as much as Marty wanted to play 75 games a year. I do think it will be a Deboer ''Overruling'' as I said though. Just like the move Kovy to left wing stuff.

Too bad we don't have an awesome Shaw highlight reel to put together. Like interviews, and stuff from when he was with us. Instead we can put together a highlight reel of massive failures on the PP like all the times we couldn't even score or get more than one shot on minute+ 5 on 3 power plays!

I can run the power play. Scotty Bowman can run the power play.

The results aren't going to change until we get better power play players.
