Mark Stone got a great contract.

Home game tax advantage, check....
Front loaded (to an extent)
Signing bonuses
Lockout protection
Full NMC through the entire contract

Kinda sad that Mark Stone is going to end his career with hockey fans associating him more with Vegas than with Ottawa.

Yeah that's the part that bothers me the most as well. But the room was broken and we weren't winning anything so he had to go.

The thing is, it won't make their pick that much better. The way the standings are, there is a major gap between CBJ and the next tier if nob-playoff teams.

If they miss, it's almost certainly going to be the top non playoff pick (15?) instead of being 18 or 19.

So it's something, but it's not enough to make up for Duchene not re-signing. While I don't think he is a lock to stay in CBJ, if they miss the playoffs I can't imagine he re-signs at all .
NHL strength of schedule were released today for the rest of the season.

CBJ has 6 home games left, 9 road games with a combined opponent win % of 0.581. CBJ seems to have one of the most difficult left. All teams here:

NHL strength of schedule for rest of 2018-19 season

They play the Bruins 3 more times...And that last game against us.

Especially after he wins the Cup there. Sigh.

But don't worry, we'll be rebuilding towards the future again with even better players than Tkachuk, Chabot or White and those new guys will be such a team that everyone will stay. Because they'll finally be a team.
