With those contracts though Chicago is going to need to eat serious cap space just to make them moveable. Not many teams can just slap a 10+ million cap hit on their roster.

They would have to accept salary back plus picks/prospects. As King Weber mentioned they also have NMCs so if they don't want to move they won't. It will be interesting if they are satisfied with their careers, in a competing for a SC sense, or if they will want to be moved so they can compete for the cup while they are in their prime.

Big and questionable hit by Kronwall last night, but the MVP of this play is the Red Wings music person with the savage song choice.

And they might get Hughes...WTF

Meh. Whatever happens happens. People probably complained about a perennial playoff team like us ending up with a Top 5 pick after an abbreviated season. Hawks need a lot more than one superstar to fix them. And if hes that good they will have to figure out how to pay him while still carrying those albatross contracts they have

Nobody was complaining when we pulled the defenseman..again. I like RyJo but could you imagine this team with MacKinnon instead? :help:

Not really worried about the Hawks getting Hughes. We'll be looking to retool/rebuild by the time they're out of cap hell and for it to matter.

Tampa Bay has 7 straight wins, outscoring their opponents 13-4 in the last two and are 9 points above the next team in the standings.

Stamkos has 10 points (7G) in his last 5 games.

This is all without Andrei Vasilevskiy, who hasn't played since 11/10.

They have a tough schedule coming up with Toronto, Winnipeg and Calgary on the road trip but they could sure do the Preds a favor by beating Winnipeg, Calgary and Vancouver along the way.

Domingue is 14-4 as a back-up which is totally insane. The again since Nov 1 the Bolts have scored 99 goals in 20 games 4.8 goals a game you will win most nights the two games they hit a speed bump was against the Preds and the Sabres who both played tight defensively against the Bolts. Goaltending does matter when injuries hit but VAsi is skating now and should be back in the next two weeks.

Vasilevskiy isn't that good of a goalie contary to popular belief.

Vasilevskiy put up some butt ugly numbers down the stretch last season but Tampa would score 6 or 7 goals and bail him out. His win total kept him in the Vezina conversation but he was awful the last 2 months of the season.

Vasi better kick ass when he gets back. Both he and Domingue have one more year on their current deals. With all their other money commitments the Bolts might decide to extend Louie at 3 or 3.5 per and trade Vasi.

I get you don't like fancy stats, but the reality is Tampa does an excellent job suppressing chances, rebounds, etc. thus always making sure their goalies have high expected save percentage. Vasilevskiy was barely better than average, and when you factor his dreadful rebound control, he's not a net positive for sure.

Your points are good but last season was the first full season that the Team belonged to Vasi. He was not ready to play the whole schedule like a veteran tender. Domingue has proven in this stretch that he he still a capable starter as well. The Bolts could let Vasi go like they did Ben Bishop and took the cheap route to sign even more offense. Just as you pointed out they scored 6 or 7 to cover Vasi last year. It becoming a standard for them to score 5 goals a night now it is just crazy, All four lines are scoring and now one of the goalies is expendable how its handled I have no idea nut I can see one moved to the west for young prospects.
