It can be done but the specifics required are beyond my knowledge of the cba. I think it would need to be a player who can make as much or more overseas (a deal the team may need to broker) and you mutually agree to terminate deal.

Most GM's just don't go to the 50 contract max. That's the easier way to have played this.

Saw this in Elliotte Friedman's 31 Thoughts column today and thought it was interesting considering recent topics:

But in more germane topics, Friedge mentions both Pat Maroon and Dougie Hamilton as being available for trade - both of whom were targets for Chayka in recent memory. Intriguing...

He is holding his players accountable, including the vets. Why didn't RT sit Gogo after those terrible turnovers the other night that resulted in goals?

Ferland is also rumored to be moved (nice trade Waddell) and is a UFA after the season. Wonder if Chayka would bite if he hits UFA. 21 goals last season, 12 this year and would bring some much needed bite.

They just traded for him. Why the hell did they make the deal if they didn't need him?

Didn't Hamilton have issues with teammates in Calgary? Not like over the top issues but it seemed like he derived a certain amount of pleasure from being aloof around his teammates and wanting to do his own thing. I got the impression he wasn't all that into his teammates and they weren't all that into him. How often does a big right handed shooting offensive defenseman who can skate potentially end up on his 4th different team in just a few years? For being such an impressive player on paper, he sure is available a lot.

I think after his mistakes we were down 5-1. I reality I think it was 3-1, but it may as well be 5-1 as we can't score anyways.

Worst team in the league (Senators) won a game last night. Beating the Ducks who have lost 9 in a row....ouch!

I can't wish for the Coyotes to lose, but will root for those below us to win. (including the Kings (in secret....shhh, don't tell anyone ))
