My money says that Stormy's scared that Gritty will turn him into a Roast Pork sandwich.

On that tune, very poor choice of wording from Stormy.

On another note, @DaveG and I were discussing offline that the Canes have a new Stormy this year. George Brown, who'd been Stormy for about 13 years now, hung up his head to take a job with the Town of Holly Springs. No idea who the current mascot coordinator is, but I noticed Stormy seemed more...animated at the game against the Caps and was interacting with fans in the stands more, dancing during timeouts, and the like.

Like, lets be real for a second. The Phanatic is arguably the most beloved icon in Philadelphia. Period. The Phillies might be terrible, but everyone loves the Phanatic. Look at this thing

And then try to tell me Philly won't love Gritty. As long as they let the mascot be and allow it to pull absurd antics and don't let it take itself too seriously, of which there is little worry, its going to be beloved in short order. Its so, so absurd its going to work.

Yeah, he definitely brought a high level of energy during the preseason. Problem is, can he sustain that through the long 82-game grind, especially during those tough weeknight games against the Rangers and Bruins fans? TBH I could easily see him flaming out early if he's not ready, and I think we'll be doing pretty well if he just makes it through the season without a major injury.

I think he'll suffer a pulled shoulder or a torn hamstring before the season's out.
