That logo depicts an elephant. The matter is not up for negotiation.

One of the great ironies of the whole "bring back _________" relocation culture is that if you asked someone in 1995 what were the three worst brands in the NHL, they would probably say the Nordiques, Jets, and Whalers in that order.

Yes, I said Whalers. Fight me.

From logo/uniform/overall attractiveness perspective, those organizations were on the level of the Islanders minus the glory-days nostalgia. Imagine a future where people talk about how the Wild had the best logo in the NHL, the Islanders had drop-dead gorgeous uniforms, and the quirkiness of the Coyotes color scheme has major retro appeal. That dark timeline is the reality we're actually living in with regard to the WHA franchises.

Harmless jokes in good fun among family members like putting a bucket of paint on the top of a partially open door are great, but just blatant lies from the media like that aren't really funny for anyone.
Exactly! Just this morning I turned off the lights and pushed my wife down the stairs. You should have seen her face when she regained consciousness!

I know this is blasphemy, but the Sabres are a lot of fun to watch right now. Krebs, Tuch, Thompson, Cozens, even Skinner, etc... They really play aggressively offensively and are fun to watch.
They seem to truly have a bright future this time. And a couple of promising goalies in the pipeline along with Owen Power to come.

They're still probably a year or two away, but good direction.

best thing they could do at this point is NOT make a move for a big name player this off-season. That was the biggest reason their rebuild blew up entirely the last time IMO. They didn't need O'Reilly or Kane, and getting those guys blew up their depth even if the guys they traded away didn't end up being stars. They were nowhere near deep enough to make the kind of 3 or 4 for 1 moves they did and like we did to get Trochek.

Tonight was the single greatest game/event I have ever attended live. I never thought anything could be as loud as a playoff game at the old Coliseum but this was actually louder. And when the players brought him on the ice after the game and saluted him I was just bawling my eyes out.

Funny the Sabres ending up playing us in 06 and I ended up hating every Buffalo fan (except you). But that team was so much fun to watch — they were like a mirror copy of the Canes. And I loved RJ’s calls.

Also makes me slightly whimsical about what could have been with John Forslund. 😭

Glad you had a good time. I couldn't stand him as an announcer, but I respect him and his impact on fans like you.

I was suspicious of the Ned trade for Detroit at the time, and the shitty defense on the Wings is really proving it to not be a great deal.

Of course, part of the issue is that the Wings have completely quit on Blashill, as well.

It's really mostly the defense as far as the Wings are concerned. Unlike the conventional wisdom of folks that like to say that Nick Leddy is so bad because muh spreadsheets, trading him has only made things worse because, as it turns out, Leddy is still a capable NHL defenseman. There's a reason that Yzerman got a significant return for him at the deadline, actually more than the cap-dump price that he originally paid. Even with all of the hype and attention that certain young players get, there's a good reason why young teams almost always equal bad teams.

Wow, im watching the Panthers and their defense is atrocious. In the first, gave up 2 goals in 17 seconds with bad blue line turnovers. In the second, they did the same thing in 45 seconds.

Hard to see them winning the Cup struggling to clear the zone this badly…

I said at the deadline that even as loaded as they seemed, I'd take Tampa over them still. And I think we'd be right there with them as well. Even with Ekblad, I don't trust their D and I don't trust their goaltending. Not to say they can't win it all, just that I don't see them as the juggernaut team they get portrayed as.
