Well, I wouldn't really fall back on the morality of an average bloke as an argument, but you do you.

What's he going to do: Walk out and spend the next 6 years working the night shift at a Tims?

Eh, he doesn't have any formal leverage, sure, but I think when an elite player wants to move on, it's usually best to accommodate them. That said, I appreciate how frustrating this has to be for Sabres fans after what happened with ROR, hopefully better days are ahead with or without Jack.

I was going to post this because damn dude just say you’re sorry instead giving an endless excuse account of staying out too long on a shift that led to a blown lead. “I knew in my heart I had the best of intentions” thank god, usually players are driven by evil malevolence when they do that sort of thing.

It’s a total rookie mistake on top of it, if you want to pull that two goals up it’s one thing, one goal up is way too risky. It’s the same reason why goalies are smart enough not to try to shoot for the open net unless they’re up two instead of one.

Also puts his teammate in an awkward spot. Why not let Foligno disclose that?

I think Lindy should have everyone on our team read that to reinforce "team over personal stats".

Staying out there to try to get your teammate a hat trick instead of focusing on closing out a game is the lamest excuse ever.

eh, guys do this stuff all the time with empty nets. A week or two ago Palmieri did it for Maltsev. No one makes a big deal about it because it usually doesn't end up backfiring like this.

To me the lame part is making a statement like this to try to take the heat off.
