What would be the point of that? For a rebuilding team to give up a 1 in a strong draft and then maybe get a 2 back at the deadline it would be a waste of assets.

Of course it's a good value trade for them, doesn't mean it doesn't have risk - that's why it's a good value trade.

They flip him if he doesn’t want to resign there.

Rangers have quietly shored up their blueline quite nicely with big moves like this and small moves like Adam Fox. Bastards.

And again the point of that for a rebuilding team is what exactly? The Rangers have to sign him for this deal to work out for them otherwise they get what, a 2 and half a season of Trouba in a non-playoff year for a 1.

So the Rangers traded a rental Hayes and Pionk for Trouba and Lemieux. What the hell is wrong with Winnipeg???

Maybe Chevy's the new Dave Maloney, the Rangers' West pipeline.

Something is up with being a GM of a Canadian team. Chiarelli, Bergevin, Benning, Chevy are all bad to awful. How does Chevy get absolutely robbed twice in 4 months by the same guy? That is a fireable offense, he will be gone within two seasons. It sucks but teams just can't seem to help themselves when it comes to helping out the Rangers

The point is they are taking a shot at making their current roster better and having a motivated trouba in a walk year as deadline bait if he doesn’t want to resign? That’s huge.

Shero needs to get his thumb out of his ass and DO SOMETHING. NOW. It’s not even free agency yet and everyone else around us has done attempts to improve.

My belief that we’re going to be empty handed has only gotten stronger.

I love how people act like we didn't make our current roster better with the trades of

Palmieri
Hall
Vatanen
Mueller
Johansson

please do not let facts get in the way of our agendas, though
Mueller is debatable at best. The fact of the matter is, this is THE time to improve the team through a sign or a trade. And our cheapass GM is letting it slip away.

Well 4 and 5 aren't really all that big a help considering we gave up four picks for two players that A) aren't here anymore or B) are still a back-pairing depth d-man at best. 2 and 3 still have to be signed to matter beyond this year and Vat was a hockey trade with Henrique. That wasn't so much improving as it was shifting.

And already:

The Rags traded for Trouba
The Isles re-signed Eberle
The Pens traded for a prospect defenseman
The Flyers shed cap space

The pickings are getting slimmer and slimmer by the day. And Shero seems fine to do ****all and piss off Hall. His funeral.

Oh no. Not a prospect defenseman

Without a first round pick we'd ever realistically trade, gonna guess that if the Devils made a deal for Trouba people would be apoplectic when they saw who we gave up.
