Sharks defense is about as perfect 1-6 as you get. 2012 Kings tier blueline right now, IMO.

One of the best shut down guys in the game in Vlasic and one of the best offensive guys in the game in Burns. Then a bunch of 2nd pair guys. No real weakness in that group. Polak might be the weakest and he would've been 3rd best on the Kings in these playoffs after Martinez got hurt.

Do you give credit to the SJ front office for refusing to "blow it up" after the reverse sweep?

They got what they needed by adding Paul Martin and Roman Polak, they have depth up front, and stabilized their goaltending by acquiring Jones.

The Sharks didn't need to blow things up, just as the Kings don't have to, which many around here seem to suggest they must do.

You mean when they tried to force Joe to waive his NMC by taking the C from him? Yeah... they're a joke.

Solid D though.

Edit: If only the Kings had a D as good as the Sharks.

I have to give Doug Wilson so much credit for trusting their European scouts. They've added two key players from Europe; undrafted Melker Karlsson and unsigned Florida pick Joonas Donksoi. To add young, cheap GOOD players like that without giving up assets or draft picks has been a big part of their success this year.

They've already signed another forward that Ottawa couldn't sign and they are rumored to add a defensemen the Ducks couldn't sign for next year. 2 more cheap, young and (hopefully) good players.

Without those signing, not sure the Sharks would be where they are now.

Impressive team to watch. I'd be surprised if San Jose doesn't win the Cup.

We signed an undrafted free agent from Vancouver a few years back. He's now playing goal for the Sharks.

Meanwhile, Hyka, Kubalik, Kitsyn, Prohorkhin, Bartosak, Zykov...whether because of not panning out, not coming over, getting kicked out for an egregious action, or getting traded, none of these guys are playing for our AHL or NHL teams. Chicago is poaching players from overseas, the Sharks as well, but the Kings?

Donskoi especially has been a stud.

Hitchcock can't come up with answers on a game-to-game basis. DeBoer has completely out-coached him. Blues should have a new coach next year.

DeBoer is a good coach, you won't find many players who didn't/don't love playing for him, tends to bring out the best (see Clarkson, D, only 30 goal season) and he was the reason the Devils got to the SCF i n2012
Hitch..is way past his expiration date, 3 yrs is the point where his effectiveness dies.

WHo knows, he might end up in Anaheim...
