Why do some posters think we are/we’re contenders or bust? We are a bubble team who will fight for a playoff position. Now this season we are the top tier of bubble teams but still a bubble team. Last season Tampa without injuries makes the playoffs and we don’t likely make it. Philly went on a good run toward the end of the season but ran out of time

That's up for debate, but they didn't sign him to tank. You can't tank for one player anyway. If you finish last, you're still far from guaranteed a first overall pick. Can people stop with the tanking talk? You're not guaranteed a first overall pick even if you finish last. Come on.

People think you can go from lottery straight to cup contender lol. Does not work that way. Even if Leafs tank, can you guarantee they get Dhalin? No. We got lucky in 2016, we were still far from guaranteed to win the first overall pick.

Absolutely it should be the goal, a disaster is a bit dramatic but you can consider each season how ever you like, that’s your right as a fan. But our franchise player and 2 other elite pieces have played under 150 games each only nylander having over 100.

It’s not cup or 1st overall though, doesn’t matter how great dahlin may be we won’t be in position to get him without massive luck

Ferraro is known to go pretty overboard with hyperbole when describing prospects too

They are not tanking but they could miss the playoffs if they keep playing this poorly..
Make the playoffs and there is little chance to get a quality player....last year they did get lucky with Lil..
Get in the lottery and they could get a top 3 pick..
At this stage of their development neither outcome is terrible.

That's why sometimes the system the NHL uses makes me sick. How can you be OK with either playoffs and missing the playoffs? Missing the playoffs should be disappointing. Instead, fans will be happy with either outcome.
