2013-14 - 27th (3-9-2)

Average - 28th of 30 teams

NFL - Jacksonville, Tampa Bay, St Louis, Detroit etc have a year or two floating around .500 or above it (7-9 or 10-6)

Ya. Of course there is the Cubs as well. I can't even imagine being a Cubs fan. Their one big year ended with the Bartman debacle, then back to losing.

A team that boasts three 1st overall players should NOT be bad.

The last three 1st overall picks before Hall were: Tavares, Stamkos and Kane. Now imagine those 3 guys on the same team.

The Oilers' losing culture has ruined Hall, RNH and Yakupov and its because of Tambellini's lack of effort to go after a stud defencemen. When Ryan Suter was a free agent, Tambellini openly stated that he did not even go after him. We probably wouldn't have got him anyways but it would have been nice to know that an effort was made.

I think Ryan Suter had his mind made up from the get go.

Suter had said before free agency even started that he was only considering US locations. We weren't getting him regardless.

Even if they technically aren't because of a comparison of their record, I think they are because Lowe claims to have lost on purpose which IMO is worse than losing while trying. It's even worse if they didn't lose on purpose and then claimed they did (which I believe the case to be).

To make things worse. They passed on Byron Buxton in the draft as well to take Correa.

They would be in the top 10 for sure (hard to include baseball since no salary cap).

But in the NHL (disregarding this year) over the past 5 years.
-Colorado (though they made the playoffs in 09/10 and are good this year)
-We've been bad, best finish was 21st
-the jets/thrashers have been bad, best finish was 18th last year (and they were playing in the lowly SE division)
-Columbus has a playoff appearance and 17th last year, Florida won their division 2 years ago, the Leafs and Islanders made the playoffs last year, Buffalo's only been bad a few years

NBA
-Sacramento Kings (worst NBA team over the last 5 years), I got lazy and only looked at conference rank and they were bottom 3 in their conference every year for the past 5 years
-Washington (starting to turn it around) but their best finish was 12th/15 in their conference and that was last year
-Minnesota, their best conference finish was #11 and that was 5 years ago

NFL
-Buffalo best season in the last 5 years was 5 years ago and 7-9, everything since has been worse (3 6-10 and a 4-12)
-Cleveland, their best record was a 5-11 in the last 5 years
-Jacksonville, had an 8-8 and 7-9 in their, but they've been bad otherwise especially of late
-Detroit 2011 they were 10-6 which almost had me exclude them but the other 4 years they're 4-12, 6-10, 2-14, 0-16

MLB (excluded cause of no salary cap, harder to compete)

-So in the last 5 years... I'd have to say it'd be close between the Edmonton Oilers, Sacramento Kings, Washington Wizards, and Cleveland Browns.

Not even close to being the worst.

People act like last season was a total disaster. They fell off the last couple games but there was a point late last season where they were very close to making the playoffs. They just couldn't keep things going.

Having decent non-playoff records in the NFL doesn't mean all that much. If you finish last in your division, you play the worst teams in other divisions more. That's kinda why Jacksonville had those good seasons even though nobody perceived them as a threat at all.

No, Jacksonville had those decent seasons because they were a decent team until two years ago. They may be historically bad this season and last year, but they haven't been bad for nearly as long as Cleveland, Oakland, and Buffalo. They were pretty much the Oilers from the late 90's until 2010. Consistently mediocre, never terrible, one decent playoff run.
