Before this season the Pittsburgh Pirates had 20 consecutive losing seasons.
Our plight is very minor compared to fans of that team.

Is there a difference between being 1 game under .500 versus finishing last repeatedly?
What about the Eskimos?
No one is America knows about the CFL so it doesn't really count as a N.A. professional team.
To answer the OP, yes, the Oilers have been an absolute embarrassment. They're supposed to be heading where Chicago is but that we all know how that is going.
A team that boasts three 1st overall players should NOT be bad.
The last three 1st overall picks before Hall were: Tavares, Stamkos and Kane. Now imagine those 3 guys on the same team.
The Oilers' losing culture has ruined Hall, RNH and Yakupov and its because of Tambellini's lack of effort to go after a stud defencemen. When Ryan Suter was a free agent, Tambellini openly stated that he did not even go after him. We probably wouldn't have got him anyways but it would have been nice to know that an effort was made.
Not really, neither has the team making the playoffs.
So making the playoffs is the cut-off line for success? Even if they get swept in the first round?

I think most of us would take a first round sweep right now.
I would take some level of competitive play, even if it meant not making the playoffs.
To make things worse. They passed on Byron Buxton in the draft as well to take Correa.Expanding on Oil Nation's post, I've got some bad bad news if you're an Astros fan. They're in for a depressing few years and I'm not sure they can prepared for the death of hope.

Having decent non-playoff records in the NFL doesn't mean all that much. If you finish last in your division, you play the worst teams in other divisions more. That's kinda why Jacksonville had those good seasons even though nobody perceived them as a threat at all.
