Are the Avalanche a bit overrated ?

What the heck happened to Tyson Jost
Guy is barely an NHL player at this point.

He is doing ok defensively and is playing with some hustle. He was on the path of looking like a failed top 6 forward but made the transition to a decent bottom 6 forward. He is going to get a nice cheap contract this off season.

They have only played 16 games and play in a good division.

The top teams in the north are overrated. The only good team is the Leafs (no, Oiler fans your 5-0 record against the Sens and losing record against everyone else has noone fooled).

You're likely sleeping on Winnipeg and Edmonton if you think the Leafs are the only good team in the division. I could see either team, and even potentially Calgary push out of the division into the western finals. I wouldn't judge Edmonton on their first 10 games of the season. I think we'll likely have a better feel where they stand after their upcoming games vs Toronto. They have a winning record against half the division, and a very good record vs Ottawa. Ottawa has also handed Toronto 2 losses in 5 games so it's not as if they're a free win on the bingo card either.

They were ranked as the main SC favorite by most people before the season and playing in the weakest division by far, you would think they should dominate it along with Vegas and St Louis, yet they are in the middle of the pack now.

Are they not in full steam yet or what’s holding them back ?
They're 3rd in the division in point %, funny how you say they should be dominating like the Blues and Knights when it's the Blues who are struggling the most. Blues are 6th in the division and should be the one panicking.

Colorado will be fine, they look a little out of sync after coming back from the Covid break. They'll get going again once they play more games.

According to OP:
St Louis who is 6th in point% = Dominating

Colorado who is 3rd in point% = overrated.

:huh::huh:

Colorado just split a series 2-2 against Vegas while St Louis was almost shut out in back to back games?

vs Vancouver: 2-1
vs Calgary: 2-1
vs Montreal: 1-2
vs Winnipeg: 2-2
vs Toronto: 2-2

There's only one team in the division they have a losing record to, and they're 4-0 against Ottawa, not 5-0.

Same scenario as your organization with Mittelstadt. The organization rushed them when nobody in the NCAA div 1 hockey world thought they were ready.
He was most definitely rushed, but an extra season of random college hockey wouldn't have made a difference between what he is now and what he could've been. He's just a very good Junior A player that doesn't have the frame nor skating to overcome his weaknesses in the pros. Then he got Covid and probably will take some time before perhaps finding some of the mojo back he had earlier on in the season.

What Seph said is true. I think their cup win is inevitable in the same way it was for the '07 Ducks, the Blackhawks, the '12 Kings (who were an 8th seed in name only), the Caps, Blues and the Lightning. But it might not be this year. You really can't beat the obvious template and we all know it when we see it. In most cases, it's just adding those one or two pieces (J. Carter, ROR, Hossa, etc. that can push you over the top). Maybe it's Taylor Hall this summer, maybe it's a trade for a 3W.

The only stacked team that never got it done was SJ (which sucks because their fans are awesome).
I would say 2000s Ottawa as well. Maybe 04-05 would've been their year. Colorado definitely has the pieces but I wouldn't say it's a sure thing. It took Washington 14 years after Ovechkin was drafted to win despite being a perennial presidents trophy contender.

Considering people treat them like they’re Tampa Bay, yes.

But they are good.

Those who were stacked for smaller period or got hit by the lock out like Ottawa (2003-2007) -Buffalo (2007)

the senator if there is no lockout and if Hasek to not get injured chance of getting one would have been high too.

But washington could have been so easily in that list, the 4 series format and the sport make it kind of in question if you are not the 70s Habs-Isles-oilers level of separation with the rest.

The problem is Avs might not have their best team in regards to depth after this season and next, a lot of big pieces need raises, which will squeeze out the middle-man also known as depth. Not that the depth is doing the Avs any favours right now, the bottom six has a combine six goals between them and Kadri is just coasting out there with a terrible plus/minus ratio.

Guess we’ll never know because it was such a short sighted idiotic decision to do so seeing as the blueprint for development of ND players was right in front of them and passed on to high end prospects but they choose to ignore it.

People underrate Minnesota in that division. The team has very good (if not great) defense and very solid goaltending. It was its offense, that was considered the worst in the league at the start of the season. But then Kaprizov looks like a star in his rookie season, Fiala keeps scoring, Greenway and EEk have made another good step in their development, Zucc came and looked like best himself, and Rask, placed between Kaprizov and Zucc, all of a sudden has recalled, how to play effective hockey. Add to this, that their bottom6 play like good bottom6 should, and you get a very interesting team, where solid veterans have a good mix with rising young stars.

The long break killed the Avs momentum, it'll take a second to find their feet again.
It is clear, however, that they are a step back from top tier of Stanley Cup favourites (Vegas, TBL)

Makar has not looked nearly as dynamic as last season. He’s getting PP assists but he’s not making many wow plays and creating much in terms of offence. Not sure what’s going on with him but Toews and Girard have shown more flash than him this year.

Most likely yes. MacKinnon is also the best player in the world and Makar is a Norris winner for sure.
Great team, but overrated indeed.
