I'm not sure if insiders have gotten worse or if NHL GMs have gotten better at disguising their intentions. Elliotte Friedman has talked about the fact that Kyle Dubas has become very good at disguising his intentions and making it difficult for him to judge whether the Leafs are just checking in on a player or if they have a definite interest in that player. He also listed off a number of other GMs like that including Lou Lamoriello (which is who Dubas probably learned it from) . Unfortunately, I forget the others.

Yes

Although him tweeting the draft picks before they are picked is pretty annoying.

They really need to clamp down on that in future drafts, take the phones away from the press if they leak a pick or have security kick them out of the draft.
