Patrick Thoresen should be given a new chance to play in the NHL imo. He has grown a lot and has taken some big steps since he left for europe 3 seasons ago. Especially his offensive game is alot better and more rounded. This season he was nr 2 in PT and goals in the KHL. He is also a UFA this summer.

His last 3 seasons in europe:
GP G A PT PIM
2008-2009 Lugano NLA 48 22 41 63 83
2009-2010 Salavat Yulaev Ufa KHL 56 24 33 57 71
2010-2011 Salavat Yulaev Ufa KHL 54 29 36 65 30

For Team Norway:
2009 Norway WC 6 2 0 2 6
2010 Norway OG 4 0 5 5 0
2010 Norway WC 6 2 4 6 2

I believe that he could be an impact player for alot of teams and he would probably be cheap as well. He really wants to play in the NHL and has said in the Norwegian media that he is willing to take a pay-cut to make that happen. Probaby a cap-hit around 850-1 mil. However he wants a 1-way contract because of his family.

Sign him to a 1-year, 1-way deal at a cap hit of 900 000, if it doesn`t work out you cut your losses and Thoresen goes back to europe where he will make alot of money and be a top-player for the next 10 seasons or so. If it does work out you re-sign him and you have a very good player who is responsible in his own sone and who can also create offense.

Wants to play for the Rangers with Zuccarello.

Some other guys from SEL that might attract some interest is:

Martin Thörnberg Twoway-winger that been a consistant topscorer in SEL the last few years. Pretty wellrounded player coming of his best season pointwise yet, looking pretty good in his games for the national team too. However, he is 27 and without a contract so if he ever wants to cross over and take a chance now is the time. Doubtful if he got what it takes to be a NHL-player but perhaps worth a shot.

From a month ago, the Canucks are rumored to be interested in Thörnberg.
