That didn't change the fact that Gretzky entered the league as the best player and produced like it immediately. The only player better than Lemieux after he entered the league was Gretzky who had a 7 years on him. McDavid has been in the league for 5 years now and has won 2 art Ross'. By this time for Gretzky he had 5 (4 and a tie in points). Lemieux was also at 2 to this point but of course was competing against Gretzky's 7 straight awards.
