Wouldn't surprise me. It's not as if it counts toward the cap if he's sent down, anyways.
They won't pay a guy 645K to play 4th line in the AHL (where he would slot in). So they'll keep trying to justify this at the NHL level. More goals against! Huzzah!

Just like they paid Budaj to play in the NHL and back up Pavelec instead of backing up Hellebuyck in the AHL, right?
According to Lawless it's 1 way. Guys like Peluso are quite likely to be claimed on waivers.
@garylawless: Anthony Peluso re-ups with #nhljets - two-year, one-way deal with aav of $675 k #nhl
I'm am ok with this,Maurice will be running a 3 line system for regular season and will add talent or younger players to the 4th line come end of the season and playoff time.

Fair point. We'll see.
AHL (at best) calibre forwards are not generally claimed on waivers. Occasionally a team takes a chance on an unproven guy here and there. Proven failures not so much.
Oh well
We don't need Thor and Peluso? This makes me think we are "STILL" not taking a good 4th line seriously? I hope I am wrong but they are releasing Jurassic Park in the theatres this summer so sticking with the theme it makes sense we sign a relic from days gone by.
Trying to remember who the fighters were on Tampa Bay and Chicago?
Don't worry everyone. This just means we can get rid of Thorburn and Peluso the same year now for twice the celebration!
There's no way they'll get another contract!
I feel like I've heard that before...
Well, Chicago does have noted dirtbag Dan Carcillo. Tampa is pretty fighter free, though. It was mentioned before that Maurice loves rolling 3 lines while hiding his specialists (faceoff, PK, pugalist) on the 4th to take the odd shift so the other lines could rest up.
