The goalies we had in the 90s actually wound up having successful careers, but the ones we had in the system in the 2000s did not.

Corey Schwab usually had work, and Mike Dunham had the starting job in Nashville, and even for the Rangers after Richter got hurt and retired. I'm pretty sure he played for Atlanta too.

Schwab spent a year or two backing up in Toronto.

I think he played with Tampa Bay also right after his first stint with us.

It's funny how so many of our former goaltenders are goalie coaches with teams around the league. Schwab with the Sharks, Sean Burke with the Coyotes, Jeff Reese with the Flyers, Dunham with the Islanders, Terreri with us. even Roland Melanson who is with the Canucks as a goalie coach, played one NHL game for us, and two seasons in the minors for us.

Add Kirk McLean in Colorado.

I didn't know he was, but didn't Roy just bring Francois Allaire in there? For some reason I'm thinking Craig Billington was a goalie coach somewhere too.

I kinda feel bad for the guy now. Hopefully the deal overseas is still on the table for him, or a deal somewhere else.

Frazee is definitely the odd man out, Kinky and Wedge will be splitting time for Albany next season and dueling it out for backup to Schneider in 2014. Unless Brodeur decides he's up for another season.

Clermont needs a spot too. I agree, there just isn't room for all of them if Frazee stays. Wedge and Kinkaid need the time at the AHL level.

Total PR move but the kid actually does look like he has some potential. He looks like he could be a pretty solid skater with a little work on his core/leg strength.

Without sounding negative, I'm surprised (in a good way) we actually drafted the kid, seemed like his chances were low & it was a longshot. Hope we can develop him into a quality backup for Schneider, but its going to be tough with Kinkaid, Clermont, and Wedgewood around.

Johnny, the kid is 18(he looks like he's 12, though. lol) so it will be quite awhile before we even hear his name again. He'll have plenty of time with zero pressure to continue to develop his game as a Goaltender.

I think he could be a pretty good backup somewhere in the NHL. It's a possibility at least. Not a definite though.

frazee 'could' be a pretty backup....... for a team like the leafs. same idea as having poni and antropov on the top line on the leafs. their best is not so best when you get down to it. :dunno:
