Was a big Shaw fan and didn't like when we traded him away. I hope he is able to enjoy his life without the problems others have had from concussions.

He definitely got the most out of what he had and ended up making a decent career for himself. I really hope the last couple of years didn't do too much permanant damage to his long term health, he seems like a genuinely good guy and a family man.

I appreciate that he was so effective at what he did given his lack of size. Had a lot of guts.

As for what he brought to the team, I thought he was everything that is wrong with the MB era. MB rarely gives up good futures. But he gave up two early 2nds for a guy with limited skill. Tells you all you need to know about why we currently have a team with limited skill.

The acquisitions were always: Prust, colby Armstrong, old steve ott, Shaw, Nick Cousins, Armia, etc... while taking players like Radulov and Markov for granted. He also used his most skilled prospect, Sergachev, to fill the need of a potential Francophone star. Again skill was an afterthought to something else.

This is why brain injury are no joke. The players has to think about life after hockey. They have a family to take care of.

The posters who was making fun of Price for getting easily concussed and saying he will be alright with his 10M$ are sick.

I'm glad he chose to end it early. I remember we were worried about it when he was with the habs but hopefully this a better late than never situation and the last few seasons didn't cause too much damage. Good player and seems like a good guy. Had a nice career and made some good money hopefully he can enjoy it

He was a good hockey player for us, especially in his last season but the guy couldn’t stay healthy and build any momentum. He would start getting hot and get injured right after.

Smart move to retire.

This guy was amazing. The closest we got to another Gallagher. Too bad we gave up the pick that turned out Alex Debrincat 40 goal scorer. All in all Shaw was a warrior. Third line fix 15-20 goals 100% every shift.

Lots of respect for this dude. You know its not a coincidence that Lehkonnen scored 20 goals playing with Shaw and Domi had a career year with Shaw. He was insanely useful when he was healthy.

I laughed at how he specifically named a few coaches he'd like to thank for his career, Julien included, but didn't mention Therrien. Awesome.

Great career for Shaw but too bad it was cut short. Hopefully he has no longterm health problems due to the concussions.

Him and Prust played a similar role for us, and were VERY useful players for us until injuries took their toll.

Like someone else pointed out, Lehkonen and Domi had career years playing with Shaw.

You're right MB seriously mishandles talent, but these guys aren't necessarly the problem.
