From watching the Boston Bruins I think both guys are deserving given the trash on the roster of the big club. Cehlarik deserved to be on the roster coming out of camp. It's rich to hear Bruce talk about all the deserving players on this roster in his explanation of the Bjork situation. Yeah, Bruce, you've got a roster of all stars and you've been playing the most deserving players all season long. Idiot.
Yeah I agree. I’d play Cehlarik and Bjork over guys like Acciari and Backes. And really the whole earning the chance goes out the window when the called up JFK who didn’t show much before he got a callup.

with the mediocre at best talent being dressed with the big club, I`d give both the call up
Same. I’m going to a game in March and I don’t want to see a team of grinders over some kids with promise. Hockey is entertainment after all.

last year, once the injuries settled, this team was a blast to watch and not just because they were winning more than losing (although that helps), they were entertaining as all get out, this year? Ugg, reminds me of late Julien era teams where it was painful to watch and I would find myself being forced to turn the channel due to chronic boredom

It was only ever in the window as shop dressing. All coaches in sports at all competitive levels say this, and few, if any, actually do it consistently. They know who they like and who they want to play for whatever reason. Cassidy is no different, nor was Clode. It sucks but it is what it is- there is a reason Acciari gets minutes, Donato hasn't been returned to Providence, Cave lasted longer than ten games and now can't be sent down without waivers etc.

Yeah, they need another difference maker and I’m not sure if Donato is the guy. He has the shot and maybe if he plays with Krejci longer than two shifts it could work. I still think they should make a trade, but I also think they have the players to ice a good team, but Cassidy keeps going back to what he’s comfortable with.

I have been a touch less enamoured with some of Butch`s lineup decisions as well. Truth is though, all coaches at every level just have their own comfort zone and players they seem to fall in love with. Played for a few myself and could also be classified as a coach`s Binkie in my final year playing. I was likely, out of the 9 forwards we iced in Major Midget, the least naturally skilled but my coach put me out in all situations to the point my old man had a few "run ins" with some fellow parents who were perturbed I was on the ice on a PP for example

I`ve coached myself (AA/AAA highest levels) and can also be accused of having my "go to' guys and they weren`t always the most skilled. Sometimes it was about pushing players over the boards who I felt were just willing to do things more skilled players weren`t.

I dunno, what I do believe is that surely, someone within this organization has the ability to not allow almost every play die on their stick like Acciari.

I got the love Kelly got here from Claude but at the very least, Kelly would contribute more than Acciari

Thats what I want to know as well.

On top of not getting called up it sounds like he got banged up in the P Bruins game last night.

Just really unlucky. Hope it doesn't derail the kids development even more.

He got kicked while he was already down IMO. Again I hope its nothing serious.

I like Bjork better than Donato as a player long term, so I feel like I’m just playing Devil’s Advocate here, but how exactly was he “kicked while he was down”?

Last year, Bjork and DeBrusk were clearly given “favored” status amongst the prospects over guys like Czarnik, Heinen, and others. Bjork was installed on the RW with 37 and 63 and DeBrusk was joined to Krejci’s hip right from the start of camp. They started the season there as well.

DeBrusk took the ball and ran with it. Bjork had a decent start, but it was derailed with some minor injuries and then his play slipped. He went down to PRO and when he finally returned, he suffered the season ending shoulder injury.

This season, he was still recovering from the surgery during camp. He looked decent in his limited games, but personally I thought that both he and Donato should go down and spend most (if not all) of the year in PRO like DeBrusk and Heinen did. Instead, he started the year in the NHL, his play was mixed and he was sent down.

There appears to be this sentiment that he’s getting some “Sinden type” screwing here, but I don’t see it. The team probably just doesn’t want to make a bunch of roster moves for a “feel good” story that they don’t think will have an impact from a hockey standpoint?

I dont disagree with much if any of this.

I get it. Its a business. And he was sent down to work on some things.

I just think its funny because they're well aware of the fact the kid went to school there and it would've been special for him. It was acknowledge at some point is my point.

On him making the team out of the gate- I thought he impressed the most for "rookies" in camp. Especially for a guy who missed the majority of camp (plus the majority of last season).

But I do wonder how this season would've gone for him if he started in the A.
Hindsight.

In 2016-17, Cave, DeBrusk and Heinen were in PRO. All are from Western Canada. During that season, it would have been “special” for them if they had been called up and got to play against EDM, CGY, or VAN. Are the Bruins supposed to worry about this stuff for each and every player?

Again, just making the point. It was acknowledged. They were aware.

Im not sitting over her crying cause the kid didn't get called up. I totally get it.

Nor do I know if it really effected him although ( I thought I read here) he made it a point to mention he hoped to get back up with the big club for it. But he didn't. And as it turns out, sustains an injury in a game he wouldn't have been in had he been called. Just bad luck. No one could've predicted that.

Hate to see it happen to anyone but especially him who, like you said, has been derailed by injuries in his young pro career. He's a talent. He's an asset. His development path has been more bumpy than most. Hope this injury isn't anything and he can keep moving forward.

sorry but this is just such a bad comparison. Bruins take a trip to western canada every single season. Bruins will never play an outdoor game again at Notre Dame, and certainly never again during Bjork's career.

You are missing the point. There are cases to me made every year for “special” games that happen during the season. NHL teams are in the business of winning games, not creating “feel good” stories.

Would it have been “nice” for Bjork to play? Absolutely. However, it’s not the crime it’s being made out to be by some.

You’re going well up until this ridiculous reach. C’mon man.

They didnt have to call him up but yeah, it was stupid not to have him up when we are playing 2 4th lines every single game. And I don’t know that he would make a difference in this game but I would think he would be more motivated than anyone else, and that for sure makes a difference out there.

What has he done in PRO to deserve a call up over Cehlarik, Hughes, Fitzgerald, or even Blidh?

Like I said. They didn’t have to.
But if I had a chance to pick 1 guy between Bjork vs anyone else (bottom6 or pro) to play this game, I choose Bjork 10 out of 10 times. I don’t even know how that’s debatable.

And that’s the thing for me. It’s not like we are playing this ‘out of this world’ lineup right now that can’t be broke.

But wtv, I’m done with it. Let’s win the thing.

Jesus, it looks the center saw the whole thing and did absolutely nothing.
It's Frederic too who plays a physical game and has shown a willingness to stand up for teammates. Very disheartening. Gotta wonder if it's some type of a coaching/organizational philosophy at this point. Really hope it isn't.

Also don't understand why no penalty was called on this "hit" as well.
