LA and Ottawa are both looking for a future #1c, neither is going to move their pick and lose out on their best chance of getting that #1c no matter what you offer up.

You would have to offer them such a stupidly one sided offer that it would no longer make sense for your team to do it. There is no realistic offer that moves you from 6 to top 3.

This trade is a bad hockey trade. The Kings have like 30 blue chip and very good role player prospects. They need a top franchise player to place those other good player prospects around. They certainly will get that at 2OA.

Anaheim has only started a rebuild and needs as many of these similar type prospects that the Kings already have.

This trade basically does the opposite...prospects-wise, the Kings trade away the franchise player and wind up with more second tier players/assets. The Ducks trade multiple good prospects/futures to get one franchise player who evidently will play by himself.

Ya the Ducks are not a #1C away from being done rebuilding.

They need everything outside of the net.

All the reasons Anaheim would covet a move up to 2 are the exact same reasons LA would never consider moving back - Byfield has a rare combination of size, speed and skill at the Center position. To find a 1C with that skill set is so tough, and you pretty much only get those players by drafting them.

I’d be shocked if the Kings do anything but select Byfield. No disrespect to Stutzle, but Byfield has the higher ceiling.
