Proposal: Anaheim- Edmonton

I posted this in another thread and I’m curious on if it’s fair value or doable for both teams involved.

Anaheim:
Draisaitl + Nurse

Edmonton:
Lindholm + Rakell

Edmonton runs McD and Nuge as 1-2 down the middle with Rakell replacing Draisaitl on McD wing. Finally gets a #1 defenceman. Lindholm-Klefbom-Larsson-Jones-Russell-Bouchard looks like an excellent d core. Doesn’t solve all the teams issues yet builds the team solid from the net out.

If any team could move a #1 defenceman a club with Fowler-Montdor-Manson-Nurse top 4 could feasibly anyways. A Getzlaf-Draisaitl 1-2 punch down the middle would be dangerous.

I’m not sure Anaheim moves a #1 defenceman as they generally are never available. There’s also the knock for Edmonton already needing scoring help that’s hard to over look. As an Edmonton I go with fixing the D and addressing winger depth after.

How is Nurse better than Rakell. Rakell has a better deal, is a proven elite goal scorer and has a history of seeing growth in his game on a yearly basis. This year is a down year for the ducks as their team is a mess. But Rakell has been about a 65 pt player the past two years. Agree with Draisaitl one just not nurse being better than rakell.

Maybe 3 years of Chiarelli tainted me on what we could expect back for our assets?!?!

Would swapping Jones+ for Nurse make it closer is is the base around Draisaitl for Lindholm not workable?

Awful is a big word,
Lindholm was one of the best in the league (top 8 I think) in advanced stats. And Rackell has the ceilling of a 70p+ LW/C/RW

Honnestly, Value wise it's legit.

IMO:
Lindholm is 2 tier above Nurse
Draisaitl is 1 tier and a half above Rackell
Center > D


Deal is pretty fair in my book

If it was Draisaitl + Jones + Puljujarvi for Lindholm and Rakell then I'd do it.

In that case, move Nurse right after for another forward.

I would do this with D-D and F-F rather than D-F.

Just depends what everyone thinks about Drai and Rakell. Personally, I know more about Rakell so my margin may be biased. P

Hasn't he been poor defensively? Have heard he has been playing too aggressive and been out of position on the ice leading to him being on the ice for high scoring chances and goals. Obviously since the season must be pretty frustrating for Oiler fans so they will probably over exaggerate instances where he makes these bad reads, but there must be some truth to them. Last season if I ever read a GDT/PGT for the Oilers games, I saw that he was being praised for his growth as a defensive player while showing some offensive poise. This year his stats have improved in terms of offense, but Oiler fans opinion on his defensive game has dipped a bit. Overall he is still really valuable and a great player to have, but rakell is a signed for 3 more years at 3.8 and should be a 65-70 point player. He carries more value than nurse and I see him as a more impactful player right now.

I just don’t see the logic in the Oilers downgrading at the position we’re weakest at. Especially when, as good as Lindholm is, it doesn’t even address the issue on our blue line (we could use a right shot PP QB). Easy pass in my books

Which piece is crap ? While I have always defended Nurse he is the least valuable piece in the deal while Draisaitl is the most valuable piece . A trade like this would start a proper retooling by building for the net out . D core would be complete . It also sets the Ducks up nicely with a number 1 C for the future . OP is very fair value wise
