Verbeek must be buddies or comfortable with Kent Hughes... didn't we also get Tyson Hind from them? Not sure what other transactions we've had with them in the past 2 years.

nothing more than an AHL swap here

really wanted perreault to work out, but it was obvious he was likely never going to pan out at the NHL level

Yeah not shocked by this. Perreault after a strong start just fell off a cliff. I think this is yet another reason why Verbeek traded for Gauthier.

Was really high on Perreault when the Ducks picked him. Unfortunate to see that it didn't pan out for him with the Ducks. Is Jan Mysak a future Carrick replacement?
He was always a boom/bust pick. It's just disappointing because it looked really good after his first year in the AHL.

Honestly, I had kinda forgotten Perreault.

This is one of those meh trades where two disappointing prospects change teams and likely neither of them make an impact in their new teams.

Well, at least Mysak is on contract next season and waiver exempt. Sounds like he is a hard worker who will help the Gulls. It seems like Perreault was always injured.

Maybe Tracey is next?
No one is interested... he is a plain jane prospect.

We really need to be more aggressive with going to players (but not with top 15 type of picks) with exceptional qualities and but maybe with more deficiencies. But I think we worry too much about players at least 'making' the NHL with some games, and less about impact and star power.

Looks like a loss for Verbeek. 20 points in 48 AHL games for Mysak, 28 points in 48 AHL games for Perreault. Also Mysak is 5'10 while Perreault is 5'11.

Perreault’s just another great example of what some of us are emphasizing a lot with the drafting - there were some nice players we missed out on who were drafted after him.

He wasn’t a good pick, there were all kinds of motivation questions and even hockey IQ. The only thing we knew he had was a shot. Def not a Verbeek type

There were some red flags regarding Perreault before the draft that were ultimately spot on. No amount of development could have fixed them.

It is always a turnoff when the prospect has a great shot. It usually means they don't have much else to offer. Ritchie, Jones (albeit he had other qualities), Perreault, etc.

So true...and it's amazing that they generally can't get their shot off when they get to higher levels of competition. Makes me wonder if Eiserman is going to be Perreault-like or more able to get his shot off like Caufield can.
