The summer articles have started to come out and I've been meaning to start a thread to put them all in. This pretty much is for articles, interviews and videos on Avalanche players until training camp time rolls around. I might put some prospect stuff in here if it seems interesting enough to the general populace. So please, if you come across anything like that post 'em here!

I'll kick it off with the first of I'm sure many articles on MacKinnon from Halifax

http://thechronicleherald.ca/sports...learns-sophomore-lessons#.VVUQ-hhWv7o.twitter

“It’s one season and sometimes it can be tough when it’s not going the way you want it to, but I try to stay as positive as I can. I’m pretty hard on myself so I’m already looking ahead to trying to prove to myself that I can be an impact player on our team.”

Everberg:

http://www.hd.se/sport/rogle/2015/05/12/dennis-everberg-jag-ar-fortfarande-for-klen/

Thanks for the translation, Robin!

Everberg

"It was the Avs that wanted me to have the surgery, and I listened to them. My shoulder hasn't been fine since the last injury and since I wont be missing any games, I might as well do the surgery now"

Reporter writes that Everberg will be training with Andreas Larsson this summer, a skating specialist coach.

- I read somewhere that I would miss 8 months because of my shoulder. That's not the way at all. I will be fully recovered in august and our camp is in september. If I was running any risk of missing any games I wouldn't have gone through with the surgery.

The reporter then throws in a quote from Everberg about perhaps playing in the AHL from last summer, which I assume is confusing in google translate.

But then Dennis says.

"When you are right in the middle of things you try not to raise the expectations too much, but I'm pleased and have been playing a lot more than I thought I would be"

Why didn't you guys make the playoffs?

"We fell behind too much in the beginning and never caught back up, we played good the second half of the season but we had a lot of injuries. I think we set a record for man games lost or something"

Have you had the same role all season?

"I have been trying to find my own role to thrive in. I have learned what I should do to live up to that role fully"

What have you learned during the season?

"One big thing is being more careful with the puck, don't lose possession in the wrong places on the ice. Be patient and don't deke at the blue line, make the safe play instead"

"They didn't expect me to play 55 games and I'm pleased with what I delivered. They have said they want me to add some muscles, and I agree"

"I have gotten a taste of this (the NHL), learned a lot, looking forward to next season like crazy. I already feel very confident and I have gained a lot of expirence"

Rendulic

I'd been back 10 days in the AHL, I played three matches, I was pleased, and they called me up, and that game in the AHL in when they called me I was not even supposed to play, I was a healthy scratch. Coach put me in a healthy scratch in Milwaukee, exactly as I remember. He called it Roy, asked him how I was playing, and he told Roy that I played badly. Of course, I played bad, he was not lying. Roy told him it did not matter. I came and Roy asked, "I heard you played bad," I said I did, and then he asked me if I'm ready, and I said I was and that game I made a goal. You've got to be ready for the NHL. Roy said at that moment he thought that I would help him because I was fast, big and strong. He needed such a caliber of players and invited me.

Geertsen

7. And next question, I can’t believe I’m going to ask this: does your blanket have a name?

MG: (laughs) Oh my god. The blanket on the bus? (laughs)

JC: (laughs) I had heard from a few guys you have a blanket that comes on the road with you and you can’t sleep without it.

MG: That’s absolutely true. (laughs) It doesn’t have a name, but yeah, I have a snuggie that comes on all of the roadies, and pretty much as soon as I get on the bus, I throw it on. (laughs) I’ve had it since I was 15, and it’s been everywhere with me.

JC: Now that you’ve signed an NHL contract, I guess that begs the question: does it come to The Show with you?

MG: You know, I have actually been debating that myself. (laughs) I think I’ll definitely bring it with me, but whether it leaves my suitcase or not is undecided. (laughs)

Two from Geertsen. Not super in depth but he talks his time in the AHL.

http://blogs.denverpost.com/avs/2015/06/02/interview-with-avalanche-d-prospect-mason-geertsen/21464/

What do the Avs envision in Geertsen next season?

“We haven’t talked too much about it. I just want to go into training camp and show them what I can do and we’ll see where everything pans out,” Geertsen said. “I obviously want to stay (on the preseason roster) as long as I can, and when I go back to the ‘A’ hopefully I can get some good minutes.”

http://vancouvergiants.com/article/catching-up-with-mason-geertsen

BB: And you’ll go into Avalanche training camp again next year with that contract signed. As you look ahead to next season, what are the areas you think you need to improve upon the most over the summer?

MG: The biggest thing for me is my size. I need to get a little bit thicker and grow into my body a little bit, but also keep my foot speed up and get a little faster because I know I need to be able to pivot on pucks and get back to pucks and break pucks out. I need to give myself as much time as I can on the ice.

“I think everybody has fun playing their hometown team, but to be part of playing Detroit at Coors Field, that’s very special. I’m sure I’ll have some friends and family doing their best to get there for that one.” He says he sure hopes his family will be wearing Avalanche colors, but he’s also sure a couple friends will still be wearing their Red Wings gear.

Siemens from the Rampage

You made your NHL debut with the Avalanche in April. What was that experience like?

It was a super cool experience and something I've dreamed of for as long as I can remember. It was nervewracking and exciting at the same time, but it felt good to get that first game done. It makes you want more and to give that extra energy to stay there.

How did you feel about the way you played?

I was fairly happy with it. At that level, you make a mistake and it hangs in the back of your head, especially as a defenseman, but it was a good experience. There are always things you want to clean up. No one has a perfect game, but I'll take that performance.

What are your training goals this season as you work toward a permanent role in the NHL?

I'm trying to put on some upper-body strength, work on my puck handling and develop my overall game.

Don't know if this belongs here or elsewhere... but as an Avs player I would be scared to post anything on social media with EJ around. :sarcasm:

Lots of Grigorenko

http://www.lapresse.ca/le-nouvellis...2755-a-la-rescousse-de-mikhail-grigorenko.php

http://www.journaldequebec.com/2015/07/14/grigorenko-heureux-de-repartir-a-zero

"It's been three weeks we worked together. He was anxious to improve his skating. He wanted a workout plan on all summer. He burned major junior, but when you go to you in the NHL, there is a check mark. He will not be an ordinary player and Patrick Roy did not want that for him either. He feels this urgency, "noted the teacher about his new pupil.

"I always knew that my skating was not my strength. This is the part of my game that I need the most improvement. I knew Julie had managed several good players, "added" Grigo "near the ice arena of Ancienne-Lorette.

"For me it's a great opportunity to start fresh by demonstrating to people in the organization that they made the right choice to believe in me.

"I had seen rumors on Twitter and saw that the exchange was confirmed by looking at the draft. I was all excited to suite. The first thing that crossed my mind was that Patrick was there and that I would have the chance again to play for him . He is so invested in hockey as it gives you just want to work harder , " he confided .
Grigorenko said he was aware that the alignment of the Avalanche is full of offensive talent, which he sees as a blessing than an obstacle to his place.

"If I make the team, I know I will have very good players who evolve. It helps. It's exciting to see such a mixture of talented young players and veterans who can serve as mentors, as Iginla and Tanguay. This is a very good team, especially since they acquired several good players this summer, "he said.

Small request...

If a story is in a language other than English, could folks please note that?
Nothing better than clicking a link, waiting for it to load, only to find out I can't read it...

^^ I can't do that stuff at work. Any sites with foreign language get tagged. Too many of those, and I could get in trouble. We wouldn't want that! (They might even decide to block HFBoards...)

Thanks! That was a really good article on Borna. Here are some good quotes

I play for a NHL club, someone will say that I’ve made it, yeah, I did, but there’s still a lot of work ahead of me to make sure I stay where I am now'', said Borna.

'I’ll spend the next month or so in Europe, but I’m leaving Zagreb soon, I’ll go to Slovenia to a practice camp hosted by Anže Kopitar, a few players and goalies from the NHL will be there so they will help me prepare for the next season.''

'Yeah, it’s unbelievable how approachable he is, you never have a feeling like you’re talking to one of the best hockey players ever, he’s done a lot to help me adjust to me to the life in America and the NHL.''

Joe is a huge fan of the Croatian national football team.

''You wouldn’t believe that Joe Sakic stays up all night watching football every time our national team is playing, every morning after a game he would come up to me and ask me if I watched the game and then we would comment on the players and the result. He speaks very little Croatian, but he’s proud of his ancestry and often spends his summer on the Croatian seaside.''

I guess I should add the tales and trails of MacKinnon and Crosby

Here's the Tanguay French article I posted in another therad.

http://www.lavoixdusud.com/Sports/Hockey/2015-07-28/article-4228449/Les-souhaits-dAlex-Tanguay/1
He would however have another chance to win the Stanley Cup by what he hangs his skates and achieve some goals statistically. "There are achievements that I want to achieve. With three good seasons, I could perhaps achieve some goals, but so many factors come into play. Win another Stanley Cup is one of them. I won it at 21, but I might not appreciate the moment as much as I should have. I was perhaps too young and my first three seasons with the Avalanche, we could have won three. Now I know how difficult it is to have this trophy there. I would at least have the chance to battle for the chance to be close. "

Poor Joe. Croatia are one of those smaller footballing countries who produce a surprising amount of top end talent so on paper they should be in the playoff stages of most major tourneys; but the domestic league is so corrupt, and the NT is so mismanaged, that the last time they actually played up to their talent in a major tourney was...1998?

Not getting my hopes up, but every article just makes me feel like the chances of Tanguay and Radulov taking cheaper 1 year contracts next summer; so that the Avs can fit both of them in without dumping anyone or having to bridge MacKinnon; is seeming less and less far fetched. Rads would have to trust Patrick enough to wait until Dec/Jan to put pen to paper on his extension, but that relationship seems strong enough for Radulov to be comfortable with taking a smaller first year deal if that gave this team a real shot at the cup in 2017...which we would with Rads and Tangs joining the 2016-2017 roster and letting us roll with:

Rantanen* - Duchene - Radulov
Landeskog - MacKinnon - Tangs*
Grigorenko* - Soderberg - Iggy
Comeau* - Malkin/Henley - Everberg*
( Compher* / Bleackley* / Rendulic* / McCleod / Martinsen )

Beauch/Zadorov - Kondor
Beauch/Zadorov - Barrie
Bigras/Siemens - Stuart/Bigras
( Holden / Geertsen / Redmond / Noreau )

Varlamov
Berra / Pickard
( Martin / Will)

Landeskog gave a nice in depth interview

https://translate.google.se/transla...-ar-riktigt-revanschsugen/&edit-text=&act=url

How much the media will be for you as captain?
- It is not so dangerous and something that you've learned. As captain, it is of course so be it profit or loss as you get to answer questions. It's part of the whole, and of course there are days when you feel that I have no desire to answer tough questions, such as after I or the team is not playing well.
- You are so privileged and lucky to get to do what they do. To then have to answer a few tough questions ... I feel that you come into the locker room and is pissed off, but after the interview, which has managed to get all that. After that you go to the gym, run a workout and unwind. Then it feels that all aggression is gone. In this way, I feel that it is very positive to talk a little.

MacKinnon on his BFF and a little bit of his season

http://thechronicleherald.ca/sports...-an-idol-but-a-buddy-too#.VcK0aMYhUa4.twitter

“Winning the Calder, I was feeling good going into the season and when it doesn’t start out the way you want, you kind of go back low and then you’re kind of all over the place,” he said. “That comes with experience and I’m pretty level-headed. I know what it’s like to slump or things like that that I didn’t really go through my first year. It’s good for me. I’m glad I went through it early so hopefully next season is better for myself and everybody.”

“You evaluate every season and I think you can always improve your strength and quickness and being ready for the season,” he added. “But to have a good mindset I think is important. Obviously the year didn’t go as I planned or the team’s way but that happens, it’s life. But I’ve definitely moved on and I’m excited for next season.”
