LOL, is it true that Plekanec is sitting out solely because he wants to play his 1000th at home?? Does this not sound kind of selfish?

Extremely selfish and unprofessional.

I respect players who miss regular season games due to child birth or family illness but that is just a joke if true.

Alzner seems like such a nice guy, it's really too bad he's become a symbol of waste and mismanagement in Montreal.

Plekanec will be playing a 4th C and is planned that he misses few games during the season.

At this point, Plekanec is probably 5th on the C depth chart.

Probably more of an organizational decision. Technically Peca was better than him in preseason and he's probably in his final season in NHL. He was never really going to play the entire year.

Alzner is terrible. Hes not even a reliable bottom pairing defenseman anymore. If his play last season and this preseason is an indication of where his game will be from now on, he shouldn't even be in the NHL.

He's that bad.

I find it incomprehensible that Alzner has fallen off this hard.

Well, at this point, he probably has the worst puck skills in the NHL.
Not that he ever had great puck skills at any point, but he was at least decently quick and smart.

Smarts are still there, but the footspeed went down the drain. So, he's left being a D that is decently smart and has good size, but doesn't have any other redeeming feature, with the worst puck skills in the NHL.

He was at worst a top 4 if not 2 in Washington. Not that long ago.

I remember when Alzner was good. What happened that he could be so bad he can't even make the Habs D?

Good call by the coaching staff. He didn't look like a competitor at all last season and during preseason.

Gets caught flat footed, out of position, no speed, no physical play at all, terrible transition, no vision.

He was not even a need when our GM (who shall remain nameless) acquired him.
