Did a little research trying to find some hope despite the 1-7-0 start, came up empty.

2013-14 Flyers :cry:: Started (1-7-0) Finished ???
2013-14 Devils :p:: Started (0-4-3) Finished ???
2013-14 Sabres: Started (1-6-1) Finished ???
2013-14 Oilers: Started (1-6-1) Finished ???
2010-11 Blue Jackets: Started (0-7-1) Finished (29-46-7) 15th in West
2010-11 Canadians: Started (1-5-2) Finished (31-35-16) 15th in East
2009-10 Maple Leafs: Started (0-7-1) Finished (30-38-14) 15th in East
2009-10 Islanders: Started (1-4-4) Finished (34-47-11) 13th in East
2007-08 Thrashers: Stated (1-7-0) Finished (34-40-8) 14th in East
2006-07 Flyers :cry:: Started (1-6-1) Finished (22-48-12) 15th in East
2005-06 Penguins :p:: started (0-3-4) Finished (22-46-14) 15th in East

What are the chances of bucking the tread??

Also four teams have 1 or fewer loses? Amazing

Don't worry guys, they'll go on a 10 game winning streak at the end of the season to go from drafting in the top 3 to 10-14th.

Once the playoffs are out of reach and the pressure is off, I fully expect this team to play 0.500 hockey and kill draft position.

How deep is this draft looking? I know the top few are supposedly weaker than last year but how does the rest of the 1st round look? At this rate we might end up trading some people at the deadline and could end up with more than one 1st round pick.

This is what I'm hoping.

This draft is harder to predict than last years. There are a lot of guys who are looking like they may rise quite a bit this season. Things could get interesting.

I really hope so. It kills me to see this team lose so if they're going to be bad I just need the draft to make it worth something. I could picture them with like 3 first round picks this year if they keep this up.

Without doing any research myself, what's the scouting report on Ekblad? NHL player comparison?

he was granted exceptional status by the OHL that should tell you something

a big, mobile, puck-moving,excellent skater, hard-shooting,PPQ defenseman. he can do everything.

+ he's a Canadian with Swedish ancestry: mix of Karlsson and Weber :sarcasm:

Yeah, the Flyers chances aren't great, however, comparing this year to prior years is kind of moot with the new division set up. If they were in any other division in the league, I'd agree that the chances of coming back are almost non-existent, but there's not really a good team in the Metropolitan division outside of Pittsburgh and to a much lesser extent, the Islanders. They still have a lot of games against the Devils, Rangers, Blue Jackets, Hurricanes, and Capitals. If they can do very well in division play, they can get the third seed in the division.

I'm holding out long shot hope too. A string of a three or four wins and they may never be looking back. This isn't a 48 game season, it's 82 games. But facts don't look good.
